Revell 07915 US Police Motorbike Model Kit

At 1:8 scale this was larger than the usual Motorbike model. This was a bonus in my opinion and made certain processes easier. The tricky element was the huge amount of chrome coated parts required. Two whole sprues. This looks great once assembled but requires modelling skill at level 5 as suggested on the box. I didn’t use super glue, which may have been better, but rubbed the chrome off any areas I was glueing. This took time but worked fine.The final model looks superb, see my photos. I placed it on a quickly made base but hope to replace this with a better one soon.

A highly detailed kit and the finished product looks quite impressive. There are however a couple of areas which can give problems:1) the chrome parts according to the instructions should be fixed with Revell Special glue. This is dreadfully messy and can take anything up to a couple of days to set, particularly with parts or sub assemblies which need careful balancing and possibly frequent adjustment. It therefore means that you need to be very patient as the slow glue setting slows down the build process considerably. In retrospect it would be better to scrape the chrome edges where possible and use standard cement, or possibly use superglue.2) there is quite a lot of flash, and many of the chrome parts are extremely difficult to remove from the sprue without leaving an ugly lump of plastic which is almost impossible to rub down without leaving a noticeable scar in the chrome.All told an enjoyable kit to make but certainly needs an awful lot of time and patience.

Great model. Lots of fiddly bits. Hours of fun! Some parts are chromed for a better finish.

Revell kit was rubbish, must be old moulds used in the factory. Fit was terrible.

The finished result is good but as an experienced model builder I found too many problems with this kit. The molding of the various parts was very poor. Three different glues are needed - Revell contacta ordinary glue, special glue for the chrome parts and clear glue for the lights and windshield. Three clear colours are needed for the lights. The guide pins are missing on most parts and the instructions have at least three parts missing altogether. You have to improvise alot and the brake, gear and engine cables are extremely difficult to attach. The 'special' glue is the worst as it takes a very long time to set and is very weak when dry. Both enamels and acrylics need to be used. To be expected on a level 5 build but it is needlessly difficult in too many areas. You will also need micro set and micro sol for the decals as they need to be molded to the curves on the petrol tank and the decals will not stick well without these solutions. I gave 3 stars only because the end result is pleasing to the eye. Be warned! Only very experienced modellers should buy this!

Haven't got round to building this kit yet but the amount of flash on the parts especially the chrome parts is ridiculous. Pointless even having them pre-chromed as they will look a mess once you remove all the flash.

This model did noy fit together well. Directions were clear, but the modle had many peices that did not fit together well. I would not recommend this model.

Stupenda riproduzione in scala 1/8, molto bella e grande con cromature in abbondanza dapertutto. Chi non ha visto la famosa serie di Chip?
