Powerful, lightweight headlamp with good features
The media could not be loaded. I really like this headlamp. It is powerful, lightweight, has a nice beam, and good features.I fish at night regularly, so a headlamp is a "must have" for me. For several years I have used a Coast headlamp, and it has served me well. The only reason I ordered a new one, is because the coast started giving me trouble charging.First off, the Nitecore is much lighter than the Coast, which is all metal. Metal frames are more durable I'm sure, but for me the lighter weight plastic is much more comfortable to wear. The nice wide headband also helps.Other headlamps I have owned defaulted to "medium" mode, which is much too bright for some situations. I would have to cover the lamp with my hand while I clicked through modes to get to low.The Nitcore can go directly to red, then "ultra low" white, which are perfect for discreetly tying on a new lure, or making sure that stick is not a snake, without lighting up half the lake.If you do want to light up half the lake, it can certainly do that too. It defaults to "low" with the main power button, then "medium" ,"high" then double click quicly for "turbo." (You have to double click pretty fast, or it just cycles through other modes, same for SOS mode)The brightness and throw are very impressive. It is a nice functional blend of spot and flood. It's no searchlight or spotlight, but it does a great job illuminating a nice wide area, out to a pretty good distance. Even though the lumen specs are similar, it feels much brighter than my coast headlamp. The coast can focus to "spot" mode, and throw light a little further, but the Nitcore beam is much stronger and wider, going almost the same distance. It does a great job lighting up a trail. The beam is so wide and bright, that you feel very safe looking down a dark trail in the woods. You don't have to turn your head back and forth, because the whole area from the ground to the trees is lit up nicely.Durability will have to be decided over some time. My Coast held up to quite a bit of abuse over the years, and hopefully the Nitecore does also. So far I am very happy with the purchase.

A fantastic improvement over Nu33 and more!
The media could not be loaded. Hey, let's be real - BD has the market on lock with their top-notch headlamps. They're affordable and lightweight, but at some point you might find yourself asking, 'Is it time for me to upgrade from this cheap plastic option and invest in something more durable and high-performance, like a PhD program headlamp?’ The answer is here:HELLO NITECORENitecore might not be the only brand out there, but they truly stand out with their unbeatable combination of design, price, and quality. I've personally purchased four lights from them and have always been pleasantly surprised. Their value for the price is unmatched.FROM NU33 to NU43I have a major issue with Nu33. The biggest problem is the complete lack of a red LED shortcut - to access the vision-saving light - you have to turn on the bright main LED first! This was a major inconvenience on camping trips when we needed to illuminate something in the middle of the night and ended up waking up half the team with the bright light. Obviously, a massive engineering flop. Another issue is the lack of a proper waterproofing - the IP66 rating just isn't sufficient for serious outdoor adventures.Nu43 changes and improves on:- The light has a RED vision AND ultralow light shortcut directly from the off position- The battery is almost DOUBLE the capacity ( more light for longer )- Nitecore cranked up the waterproof rating to a respectable IP68- The top buttons are more pronounced and easier to access with gloves on- Maximum run time is now 165h ( vs 147h Nu33 )- The emergency beacon now pumps up blinding1400 lumens ( vs 700 nu33 )The downfalls between the Nu33 and Nu43:- It no longer has the high color rendering index LED lights (CRI), but I have not used it in a camping setting so it hasn't affected me.- The distance sensor feature appears to be more of a novelty than a practical tool in real-world situations. The light only dims when an object is within 1-2 inches of the sensor. Therefore, if you were hoping the light would automatically dim while you were looking at a map or phone (when it is in high/turbo mode), you will be disappointed as it will not adjust in this scenario.- The Nu43 model is slightly heavier than the Nu33 model. The Nu43 weighs 123 grams when equipped with its headband, while the Nu33 weighs 95 grams with its headband. The small weight difference is hardly noticeable, as the Nu43 features an improved head strap and a larger forehead cushion for increased comfort. (You can refer to the comparison pictures for reference)- The difference in size between the BD Spot, Nu33, and Nu43 models is apparent (refer to the comparison pictures), particularly when comparing the BD Spot to the Nu43. However, it's worth noting that the Nu34 is a superior headlamp. It has a premium feel thanks to its all-aluminum construction, which is a step up from the cheaper plastic used in the BD Spot.OVERALLNu43 is a vast improvement over the Nu33 and addresses many of the issues that I had with the previous model. It is my new favorite! Thanks Nitecore team.

Love this light!
This was one of those purchases for me that I was unsure if I was gonna like it turns out I love it. It's comfortable I love the adjustment. The battery lasts a long time and it's really bright. I use it for working in the attic and for a casual nighttime bike ride.

Nice diffuse light
This headlamp is nice and heavy duty period the light is nice and widespread without having a bright spotlight in the center. It's fairly heavy, and has a nice wide, reflective band. I will say the much bragged about sticker did not arrive in the box. I am a bit disappointed in that. =)
