Sand free spot while at the beach!!!!
I've upgraded our beach gear and added this to the mix and it worked like a charm! It stayed in place despite the heavy wind on a typical SF beach. Kept our surface area Sand free which I never thought I'd ever be saying! The sand easily sifted through for us. I'm guessing if you happen to get moist or wet sand caught in it either let it dry or hose it down and gently brush it off, it seems sturdy enough to handle light brushing for a bit of a deep clean if your obsessive compulsive and can't wait for it to totally dry off. We weren't bothered by its mesh like composition, it felt like a straw mat if you are familiar with those kinds of mats. Color is lovely performance is wonderful!

Nice
I ordered the large size and it is pretty roomy. I also ordered the blue and the colors look great out in the sun. I felt pretty cool and posh on the beach whipping out my pretty blue beach mat from my matching blue beach bag! But I took one star away because it's a bit harder to get the sand off the mat than advertised; you have to pat and and shake the sand through, it doesn't just fall through. Wet sand is even harder. But I still love this mat.

So far so good. Took this camping as a flooring for my tents vestibule. The forest floor was mostly fine dirt and some duff. The dirt easily falls thru the mesh while the pine needles were easily swept away off the top. Over all worked great for my needs. Kept my tent free of debris and gave me a clean area to dust sand and dirt off my feet. I will be getting a small version for my dog to lay on since his beach towel always ends up a muddy wet mess.

Warped and shrunk in a weird way and was slippy to walk on
We bought this and initially felt ok about it. The two layers can slip against each other which made it difficult to walk on at times. Over time as we have had it folded in our camping gear and it has warped so that the two layers are now not the same size or shape as each other and so it won't lay flat on the ground anymore. We've tried pulling on the corners to see if we can reshape it but no luck.I wouldn't recommend it.

Must have for any trip to the beach
This item arrived just in time for a trip to Florida. I could not have been happier with the performance of this rug. A friend bought a like product from Bass Pro Shop and the CGear out performed it by a long shot. After several days on the beach, it did not retain a grain of sand. My beach towels that were laid out on the CGear did not have any sand on them at all. awesome awesome

Very nice but heavy
Very nice but heavy. When you are already taking chairs and such to the beach this heavy blanket can be a bit much. Also because it is a stiffer fabric it doesn't fold up small. I am still happy with the purchase though because it works just as advertised.

GOOD BUT VERY SLIPPERY
Love the mat otherwise but the two layers slip over themselves easily and I have almost done the splits a couple of times now. It's honestly kind of a hazard and I don't use it as much as I would like to because of this. I would not buy this particular version of this type of product again and I do not recommend it.

High maintenance for beach use compared to a parasheet.
Purchased this thinking it would replace my parasheet beach blanket that I've bought from amazon 4 years ago. It wasn't cheap either. Nothing wrong with it; to this day it's still in one piece. I wanted to try this out so I got it at Amazon & I finally used it at the Jersey Shore beach yesterday for more than 3 hours. It was bulkier & heavier to carry in an already packed & heavy backpack compared to the parasheet so it's not off to a good start. It didn't come with some kind of a carrying bag or straps. Laid it out far from the water & was delighted to see that the wind didn't move it. Left it at the beach along with the rest of my belongings & hit the water. Got back laid on it, obviously by now had accumulated both dry & mostly wet sand. The dry sand, let alone the wet sand, didn't really sift through the mesh material. Had to brush it off with my hand which wasn't bad. By late afternoon the waves got stronger. As far & as up high where I was setup, the seawater got to the mat & it got soaked. I figure no problem, the wet sand will sift through the mesh material. Went ahead with my beach business & laid back on the mat with no issues; brushed off any wet sand that landed on top of it. The wet sand didn't bubble up to the top layer of the mat. The real problem was when I was breaking down for the day. As I packed up my stuff & when it came time to folding this mat, I was surprised it got heavy! It turns out that a good amount of wet sand got caught in between the layers of mesh & no matter how hard I try, it would not sift through. I end up bringing it (heavy with the wet sand) to the water & rinse it a few times there between the waves so as not to accumulate more wet sand. Finally got most of the sand out but still felt heavier than I remember carrying it on the way in. At the rinsing station by the boardwalk, I further rinsed it more to get more of the wet sand out, used my bungie mesh net to secure it to my backpack to let it air dry on the commute home. Got home & as I was about to fold it for storage/re-use, more sand fell on the floor. Pissed, I end up running it through the shower to make sure all the sand was out. Air dry for the last time then stored it the next morning. Will I bring it again to my next beach trip? No.Would I have return or sell it if I had the chance & get my money back? Yes.I'm sticking back to my parasheet beach mat which is double the size & easily rinse at the beach & it comes with its own pouch. I'll probably repurpose this mat for something else.
