This is a Masu (traditional drinking cup for Japanese Sake). It was originally used to measure rice in the past, but now, it is largely used for drinking Sake.It is also useful for Mamemaki (a Japanese bean-scattering ceremony practiced on Feb. 3) as a bean-cup.Since it is made of Hinoki (Japanese cypress), it is hard to break and has a faint scent.
