Tour of Band of Brothers
I really wanted to watch this series having seen the odd episode on TV back in the day. I always remembered it as being really good, but was in second thoughts about getting the DVD as I thought maybe it’s actually horribly dated and was just the power of nostalgia making me yearn for it.I can confirm that this series really is superb. It still holds up today and is a really gutsy series that does not flinch from the horrors of the war. Everything from racial issues in the 60s, civilian casualties, green on green ‘fragging’ and the tactical mismanagement of soldiers repeatedly carrying out the same objectives to the treatment of war veterans in the USA- it does not shy away from any of it.You can really see the expense, effort and most importantly of all - integrity that went into this series. You get to really invest in the characters naturally as it goes on. Just superb with a great cast that keeps you wanting to know what happens next.I thought I’d maybe watch a few episodes and then go ‘yeah it’s not what I remembered’ but it’s actually better than that. It’s influence can be seen in many things that followed it like band of brothers….This DVD set is well worth the dosh, nice picture quality and sound and of course the original soundtrack which is a must.I’ve been binging this and now just finished Season 2. Already don’t want my Tour to end.

58 Episodes, 58hrs entertainment, well worth it.
I watched this on the telly when it was broadcast late evenings on C4 (I think), starting partway through series 1.After series 3 finished airing, they re-broadcast from S1Ep1 again and I recorded the lot on VHS (sshh!). Unfortunately, sometime during the years since, those tapes got mislaid.A few years back, it occurred to me that this series might have made it onto DVD, however on checking, it seemed there was a licencing issue with the soundtrack and the original music had apparently been replaced with generic alternatives.A couple of years ago, I looked into it again and it seemed that although the collection was available in three different versions, at different prices (one over £100) the reviews all lumped together as if one product and only some of them even mentioning the soundtrack, making it difficult to decide which version to buy.About four weeks ago, I finally made a decision and purchased the middle-priced option (£49.99, 15 discs) which comes with each series in it's own plastic multi-disc case and the collection in a plasticard sleeve. As of writing this, I'm just starting disc 2 of series 3...The soundtrack is as I remember it from the original broadcast version. The picture/audio quality are as good as can be expected, bearing in mind it was made in the late 80's. There is a noticeable difference between series 1-2 and series 2-3, but it's not like it's a big enough franchise anyone is ever going to digitally remaster it :)For me personally, having watched all episodes several times in the past, this was mainly a nostalgia purchase. For anyone who hasn't seen them before, then in terms of story/plot and the era and events it portrays, each viewer will have to make up their own mind. However I will say that I'd be very surprised if by the final epidode, there's anyone who doesn't feel at least some sense of attachment to the characters.

Blast from the past....
I loved this series in the 80s - great storylines and cast are great. Tells a good story of the Vietnam War with lots of emphasis on actual events although given a fictional element.By comparison to today's films, it is a bit flimsy in terms of sounds effects but hey, it is nearly 40 years old!Grab some pop corn and settle in for a night of nostalgia.

Tour of Duty
I bought this factory sealed dvd box set as I used to watch this when it was on TV many years ago and enjoyed watching it. I can now watch all episodes back to back. Great series and a good price. Update I have watched all episodes now and was disappointed I found disc 4 Series 2 was cracked and split from the centre to the edge. Unplayable. Disc 2 Series 3 would not load and that too was Unplayable. Unable to return faulty goods as the one month returns policy had expired. Not realistic to watch all episodes in such a time frame and no place to register any complaint.

GREAT VALUE HALF THE PRICE OF THE ENGLISH VERSION
Great value the full three seasons on 11 discs, I don't know much about the music as I didn't watch the original series. I know the region 2 version is a lot dearer very expensive for music for the same episodes, all I know it is like I said great value and is half the price as our box sets, I have never heard of people who can watch a programme and listen to music at the same time, if I listen to music I put my cd player on and if I watch a programme I play my DVDs, this programme is based on history and true events of what happened in real life. I know one can't act according to real life events but one can get the general idea how hard it was for the real soldiers, I can recommend this box set to anyone and the value of it no one can ask for more,The benefits to this set are it is a lot cheaper then the U.K version and come safely packed in a plastic case, it as every episode from series 1-3 made and very good quality and sound, the disadvantages of this set is it doesn't have the original soundtrack, the DVDs are piled on top of one another not separately and you need a region 1 or multi region dvd player. I give this five star not because it doesn't have disadvantages but what can one expect for the price? If you want gold for penny's this set is just that all the original series accept the music for pennies, I don't know about others but I separate what I watch to what I listen to. Music doesn't make a good series may help but good acting is what makes a good series or film, as for music a good cd player does that. It is really a good bargain.

Really Good Vietnam War Series
Really good Vietnam War series, especially season one that was filmed in Hawaii. This UK region 2 version has the original music sound track that really complements the series. The only drawback is you need a region free player. The series is a little pricy, but worth it.Reminds me of the World War II series, "Combat!" from the 1960s. As for the series realisticly portraying the war, I'll leave that to the vets who were actually there to comment.
