Very potent and dyes evenly.
This was the first time I ever dyed clothing (stove top method) and it worked fantastically! The color was very deep-- definitely a jet black. The dye was even throughout the garment, too. The colors have not faded at all since I dyed the garments a year ago-- they're still jet black! On that note, do be cautious that the colors will run onto other clothes for the first several washings... similarly, expect that it might tint/stain your skin in high-friction areas (like under arms) until it has been washed several times.I dyed two Smart Wool pullovers from purple to black, and three light-weight wool pullovers with hoods from light grey to black. I probably could have dyed even more...!

Good prep, follow instructions, and maybe a little research
I don't have experience in dyeing, but I followed the instructions as exactly as I could in dyeing a 40-year-old cream-colored aran with a few small stains. I had a large canning pot (an even larger one would've been better but I'm not sure they're made any larger), and I was careful about gradual heating and cooling. It was in adding the vinegar that the true color popped out -- a rich brown, just what I wanted. However, I think that this sweater had "background" discoloration that I didn't see, or perhaps something else going on, as the dye took unevenly, and there are darker brown and redder sections in places. The sweater was large, so maybe the pot was too small (sweater weighed 1.15 lbs dry) and didn't allow for enough stirring, but I sure made an attempt at it (even while being careful not to over-agitate). As I washed it afterward in Synthrapol to remove extra dye, I read on the label that one could add it to the dyepot to encourage even uptake -- wish I'd read that first. I see that another reviewer has mentioned soda ash or urea, and one of those might also have helped. So I don't know whether the issue was not enough stirring or background discoloration in the wool that led to uneven take-up, but the end product isn't great. I can and will wear it at home but probably not to the office. These issues aren't the fault of the product but rather of my inexperience and/or the item I was dyeing. The product was fine, the color a really nice true-brown. So: do as much prep as you can. This activity took several hours (not at all once), so allow for that as well. I'm uploading a picture but it doesn't do the brown justice -- a brown like a dried oak leaf, or tobacco and there are also shadows across it.

Absolutely does NOT work - color washed right out!
I could have spared myself 2 hours of effort and just used a lighter to burn up $34 in cash. This product DOESN’T work. I bought the 8 oz. package; the label (which isn’t fully picture on the listing) says the contents should be enough to dye 2 lbs of fabric. For reference, the wool poncho sweater I tried to dye weighed only 1.5 lbs.I followed the directions exactly and was excited to see the sweater immediately take on the rich blue color. After standing and stirring it for 40 minutes - and then leaving it in the dye an extra 4 hours just to make sure it would take - I went to rinse it and ALL the color washed right off. (Bear in mind this was a cream sweater. After the rinse, it is still currently cream. Zero color difference.) Where the dye *did* stain was my hands and fingernails once I removed the sweater from the pot. I used some heavy nail polish remover and my hands are still blue.I hated this product; from the reviews it looks like sometimes it works? For me, I rinsed $34 down the drain.

This neon dye never exhausts
The jar I received says NEON on it but it does not glow in the dark just so you know. I love the colour this dye produces. However, I'm not happy with how this colour will never ever exhaust. No matter how many yarn mops you throw in the pot you will never use up the dye. I used 100mL of a 1% stock for 100g of fibre and that was waaaay too much.

Gorgeous colour obtained
Great to use, only issue is the wool went black where it was slightly exposed to air (couldn't keep it totally submerged). But apart from that, really happy getting a rich chestnut brown wool.
