Nice Lint Filter
I saw this item on the DIY's Mike "Do It Right the First Time" TV show. Couldn't find it in any hardware store, and they had no idea what I was talking about when inquiring. Found it here on Amazon. Took about a week for it to show up (normal), and about a half hour to install. Dryers have a lint filter already, but having a second one in line to the outside is a plus. Make sure, before installing, it is positioned correctly for easy access and cleaning. Good piece of laundry equipment. No lint going outside. Almost 100% lint free.

Decent product
If it wasn't for the fact that there are no external eye holes for screws to mount it, I would have given this 5 stars. But I can't really complain because the product works well and is easy to install. I have no more lint coming out the back of my house.

Poor Manufacturing Quality and Significant Air Leakage
I found this product to be of poor quality. I installed this product and found that there was significant air leakage. Upon further review of how the cover and lint screen is attached makes for an uneven surface which in turn leads to air leakage. I attempted to make modifications to the cover with additional foam gasket, but I could not overcome the endless air leakage. Now, I will add that my installation is not within a wall, but surface mounted to a wall and the run is short enough to not require a booster fan. I contacted the seller for assistance with the air leakage along with a picture and following an additional response to questions, I recieved a response that had nothing to do with my complaint; "The trap is designed to be mounted in the drywall, similar to a junction box. More importantly, though, it cannot be installed Without the use of a booster fan for the dryer. Thanks again"In review of the FAQs on the site, I confirmed that the installation does not require to be within the wall and does not require a booster fan. The response from the supplier never addressed my claim of poor manufacturing quality and air leakage. Do not buy this product from this vendor!I ended up replacing the product with the same type lint catch from a reputable vendor..

Hard to open.
It takes so much strong-arming to get this thing open that it would tear up the drywall. You would have to brace it in really well. We ended up ordering a different one.

Best investment ever
Works great and would suggest everyone install on their vent system. I was amazed how much lint it trapped. Thanks

Dryer Lint Trap
Installed this item by drilling holes in the back and fastening to board which fastens to the wall. It is white powder coated and has a metal screen which took a few minutes to figure out how to remove. You push down first then the top pops out then pull the screen out by moving the knob back up again to get it out of the bottom slot. Just reverse to get it back in but you must push the top inward so that it does not catch on the metal as you slide it back up. There were no instructions. If you use flex metal pipe you must use a clamp on the pipe on both ends. I'm happy, the dryer is happy, and the filter is happy.Testing note: With the dryer vented to the inside of the house (1100 square feet) the temperature increased 1.5 degrees with a 50 minute run time and a large load of clothing. The humidity went from 54% to 77% and the windows steamed up with the outside temperature at 27.8F. This is 5.8 pounds of water extracted from the drying clothing (one gallon of water is 8.34 pounds). This is determined by the difference in the weight (I checked three large loads) of the clothing from the washer and after it exits the dryer. I have the blast valves and piping on order to set up an alternate vent to the outside during the summer months. The external filter builds up lint about 1/3 the rate of the internal filter and should be checked regularly. My home is about 44 feet long and I could feel the dryer heat that distance during the operation. You will still have to gain access to the dryer to clean out the bottom piping of the dryer every few years as some lint will always adhere to it. My external filter is located just above the dryer for ease of access and the piping will go upward to the ceiling. If the dryer is not in the basement (mine is in the mud room) the wifey will not like the exposed piping and some method of hiding it might have to be employed. The dryer can be used as an emergency heater if the furnace fails and you still have electricity.JJK

it works
got the lint trap in good time. got it installed and catches more lint than I anticipated. If people knew how much lint the dryer didnt catch, they'd get one of these. I gave it four stars cause I feel the design could have been a bit better to make it easier to remove and put back the screen. It's not very difficult, but would have been a five star if easier.

Great little device!
Actually my husband installed this lint trap for me right after it delivered on time and as expected. We've been using just the trap on the washer but more lint was travelling up and into the exhaust pipe, collecting at the outside trap door, so we thought we could use additional help since we do three to five loads a week. That's a lot of lint! This trap, economical and easy to install, is paying for itself, as far as I'm concerned! Not sure the critters outside care for it because it's cut down considerably on their nesting materials, but I love it!
