I chose this model as it is easier to store than the circular models. I bought my first one in 2016, and I am about to buy my third (second replacement), having used it daily to make low carb waffles. Although initially concerned that there was no temperature control, I do not find that this matters. Different waffle mixes need to be cooked for widely different lengths of time - the amount of steam coming out of the waffle maker is a good indicator of when the waffle is ready. As an example, my usual low-carb mix is ready in two or three minutes, while chaffles take much longer, but both are done when there is very little steam coming out of the machine. I no longer bother to turn the machine halfway through as I find it makes no difference, and nor do I grease the plates, adding fat to the batter instead. The exception is chaffles, as the protein in the cheese tends to stick to the top plate unless this is well greases first - I use a silicone pastry brush.
