Das Schnitzset für Einsteiger besteht aus mehreren Blöcken Schnittholz (in zwei Größen) sowie drei Schnitzvorlagen aus Papier, die auf das Schnittholz geklebt werden.Der Karton aus Pappe ist bedruckt und passt von der Machart (vor allem der Holzmaserung) gut zum Inhalt. Auf der Rückseite gibt es Links zu diversen Medienauftritten von BeaverCraft. Z.B. zu ausführlichen Erklärvideos. Ebenso ist es möglich, Schnitzvorlagen herunterzuladen. Diese sind in verschiedene Kategorien, die sich nach der Größe des Schnittholzes richten, unterteilt und sind mehr oder minder recht rudimentäre Zeichnungen. Die Auswahl gerade in der Größe 4''x1'' (wie im Karton mit einer Ausnahme vorhanden) ist überschaubar.Wer gut zeichnen kann, kann darauf verzichten. Und evtl. die Umrisse sogar direkt auf das Holz zeichnen, ohne den Umweg über die Papiervorlagen zu gehen, die ausgedruckt werden müssen.Das weiche Lindenholz ist von guter Qualität, es lässt sich leicht bearbeiten und ist daher besonders für Anfänger zu empfehlen.Da drei Vorlagen schon dabei sind, braucht es nur eine Schere, Klebstoff und ein scharfes Messer. Dann es sofort losgehen.Daher ist das Set sehr anfängerfreundlich.

There are two sizes of blocks in this set to carve. The blocks are uniform and have very consistent grain. I haven't used them yet, but I see no issues. The wood is soft and it seems easy to carve.

Wer mal reinschnuppern will ins schnitzen, ist mit dem Set (und dazu natürlich noch ein ordentliches Messer) gut beraten. Das Holz ist aus Linde und damit recht weich und leicht zu bearbeiten. Toll ist, dass direkt noch ein paar Ideen mit dabei sind und man sich noch über Videos informieren kann wie man am besten vorgeht. Was ich mir im nachhinein Wünschen würde, ist, dass die Hölzer länger sind, sodass man diese gut bei Schnitzen in der Hand halten kann. Insgesamt aber ein prima Set, auch toll zum Verschenken!

This is an awesome kit with soft basswood that is great for small carvings. I carved a small gnome using 1/2 of the 1x1x4 stock. I have only been carving for a little over a year and this was my first carve this small. The wood cut very easily. Now I have a number of other carving projects I want to do with the 1x1x4 blocks. This kit is ideal for carvers that do not want to cut their own small blocks for smaller projects.
