Update: This product is not super sturdy and the 2.5mm connector has fragile welds in my opinion. To see what is going on, I carefully opened it up and see that there are tiny welds to the headphone connector. The one that is circled has less solder and a bit of a bevel. The smallest impact cracked the solder as shown, and now the sound goes in and out depending on when the two solder points touch. I'd be surprised if this product lasts very long for anyone unless ifi increases the strength of this connection.Older review: So this helped me in that I have some very sensitive Westone earbuds and I like to listen to music pretty quietly. My phone at low volume plays more out of the right earbud. This product allows me to turn up the volume and hear clearly out of both the left and right. I also think it helps to increase low end frequency, which also helps with Westone IEMs. I like to listen to a lot of HD music, and this was a good add to my system.

A great product. Nothing in the market rivals what this will do for your listening experience. If you are usin a balanced Headphone and a dac/amp or amp, this will take all of the hiss and crackle out of your sound. Amps have been known to add a hiss and crackle to your music. At the same time you are also gaining some volume and depth to the sound source. This is a problem that can be alleviated with the iematch 2.5. I’ve also use non-balanced version of this product, it too works well for what it is. They do not take anything out of your audio except for the hissing and cracking an amplifier will produce when amplifying your audio. I’d buy it again if I needed to but it seems this does the job very well. Using with CEntrance BlueDAC and a set of closed back Sennheiser 598 cs.

This converter / impedence corrector works well and reduces the noise floor drastically without changing the frequency response. Does what it says it will do. Quite expensive though.

Originally left a one star comment because it was broken when I received it. However, iFi contacted me shortly and resolved the issue quickly. Received a replacement and it's now working as claimed. Love it. Sounds great.I used this for my IEMs that were plugged into a high output impedance source which messed with the IEM's frequency response. This solved that problem and I now can listen to my IEMs as it was intended to.

The functionality is very satisfactory and it provides enough gain reduction. However, the cable is very thin compared to my other quality audio cables. The black switch between high and ultra feels pretty flimsy. I worry about the longevity of the cable.

Unopened box (plastic sealed even) on arrival contained the main item covered in glue (rubbed off easily).No "gold-plated airplane adapter" to be found anywhere, nor is there any claim as such on the item's packaging.Build quality is poor: aforementioned glue; two-positional toggle switch is loose internally and enagages inconsistently; garish seams on the business end of the item; click/rattle from the L-shaped jack where it meets the wire.Pretty damning as a first iFi experience.

They're under-selling this product by using the term 'lowers HISS'. It not only lowers hiss, it lowers the whole noise floor, which makes a very noticeable difference to the trained audiophile ears. Don't know how this product manages to do this, but it's kind of producing the DSD type sound - less noise floor and more dynamic and deeper sound.I'm happy with the quality of the results produced by this product, however, I think it should have been priced lower. How expensive the cost of this product would be, I doubt that it'll be more than $10. And yet they sell it for £59. I would have given it 5 stars if the price was right.

First off there is no airplane adapter with the 2.5mm version.Second the balanced version is maybe a little overpriced.However it works exactly as it should and allows me to use my sensitive iems with my mains powered amps. Without this gadget I get annoying hiss and with it, on high setting I get no hiss.So I recommend it if this is what you may wish to do.

While it's not cheap it fixed the noise floor on my amp. On 4.4 balanced on +6db I hear no hiss unless I max the volume. Before I got this I would hear hiss on my IEMs at half volume at 0db on single ended. Has let my enjoy my music so much more at home
