Vetiver Essential oil Botanical Name: Vetiveria zizanoides Extraction Method: Steam Distilled Parts of plant used: Root The Essential oil: Vetiver essential oil is obtained from a root of a grass. While the grass is dried and used for woven mats and the fragrant root is used for extracting the essential oil. The color of the essential oil is golden/ dark brown and colorless to very pale yellow depending on the area of cultivation and it has a thick viscous consistency. The essential oil has a earthy, smoky, woody, spicy and herbaceous aroma. Strength of Aroma: Strong Blends well with: Bergamot, black pepper, cedar wood, chamomile, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, ginger, jasmine, juniper berry, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, orange, patchouli, spikenard. Recipe: In aromatherapy 1 drop of vetiver in a formulation is more than enough, in vetiver the scent is so strong, less is more. It creates a wonderful aroma which will calm down your senses. In a candle burner or a diffuser add 2 drops of vetiver, 7 drops of spearmint, 7 drops of lemon, 7 drops of lavender.
