My Dark Desire: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance

Ce tome se démarque des romance que j’ai l’habitude de lire car pour une fois, le mec n’est pas un séducteur invétéré. C’est même tout le contraire. Zach Sun a une aversion particulière pour tout contact physique et si vous avez le malheur de l’effleurer, il est prêt à s’ébouillanter. Ce n’est pas qu’il a une phobie des microbes mais il est clairement traumatisé par son passé. Il faut dire que quand il était enfant, il a eu un accident de la route dans lequel son père y a laissé la vie, la sacrifiant pour son fils. Depuis, la culpabilité le noie et il se s’est jamais autorisé à vivre.Farrow a également perdu son père. Quand vous lisez son quotidien, vous comprenez qu’elle a une vie de Cendrillon. Elle est au service de sa belle-mère pour qui elle fait un nombre élevé d’heures de ménage, ses belles-sœurs sont des chipies. Sa seule échappatoire réside dans l’escrime, sport où elle a failli avoir une carrière olympique.Nous avons donc une romance atypique car elle met en scène deux héros qui n’ont pas du tout la tête à une romance. Ils s’embarquent même dedans à contre cœur. Leur état d’esprit fait sourire. Ils partent tous deux du postulat que c’est une passade et à partir de là, ils sont déjà dans le après.Zach aspire à la vie remplie d’amour que son père voulait pour lui alors il espère que Farrow parviendra à le mettre sur cette voie. Elle essaye de survivre en tirant le plus de profit de cette situation. Aucun des deux ne pense au présent. Ils ont tellement la tête dans le guidon et leur objectif fixé sur le futur qu’ils se prennent le présent en pleine tête. C’est hyper addictif de les voir tomber amoureux sans s’en rendre compte.De plus, les auteures ont choisi d’installer la romance dans des circonstances axées sur la famille, sur le poids du passé. On se rend compte que malgré leur milieu qui diffère, ce qui unit nos héros, c’est leur perte. Ils résonnent l’un dans l’autre. Ils se comprennent instinctivement. C’est beau à lire.J’ai adoré le fait que Zach soit mis face à ses contradictions quand il s’agit de Farrow.Quand Nathalie, son assistante, commence à se comporter comme Fae et qu’il s’emporte, j’ai souri car le récit prend presque une dimension de théâtre. Par son biais et le recul qu’elle a sur ce dont elle est témoin, le regard extérieur qu’elle a parce qu’elle n’a pas vécu de traumatisme, on voit bien que Zach et Farrow sont dans leur bulle. Quand ils sont seuls, il y a une intensité qui happe. Mais placés dans un cadre public, on comprend le désarroi des spectateurs de la romance. Il n’y a que dans l’intimité qu’ils se dévoilent, corps et âme.C’est donc dans leur intimité qu’on apprend à les connaître et à les comprendre. Autant My dark Romeo ne m’a pas spécialement laissé de souvenir, avec le temps, autant j’ai déjà lu et relu plusieurs fois My dark desire. Il y a quelque chose dans cette histoire qui m’émeut et qui me tient captive. Peut-être est-ce dû à la fragilité des héros, ou bien à l’intensité de la romance, ou à la passion qui la caractérise? Il n’empêche que j’ai du mal à quitter les héros. Je suis sous le charme. Je crois que pour l’instant, je vais même être incapable d’ouvrir un autre roman tant je suis encore à fond dans celui-ci.Pour finir, je dois dire que j’ai beaucoup souri ou ri avec ce tome. Il y a des références à la pop culture et des scènes qui sont très drôles. J’espère qu’il en sera de même avec le prochain tome.

Whilst I think it can be read as a stand alone I would highly recommend you also read My Dark Romeo (book one in the series) as it gives you a taste of Zach’s character and a glimpse of secondary characters in this book.Farrow Ballantine is in mourning. Her beloved father was killed in an accident leaving her with a StepMother who hates her and two stepsisters who treat her like a slave. In search of a precious pendant that her father had bequeathed her, Farrow sneaks into the home of über wealthy, cold hearted, disdainful Zachary Sun.Zachary Sun is traumatised after witnessing the death of his father at an early age. Considering himself responsible, Zach cuts himself off from all emotion, after all if you can’t feel then nothing can hurt, no one can get through your barriers. Zach would be content with his life, if only his mother would stop trying to find him a bride!Forced to endure a ‘bride search’ party his mother has arranged, Zach escapes to his office only to find a woman there. Dressed inappropriately and acting suspiciously the woman refuses to back down when confronted and despite his best intentions Zach can’t help but be intrigued. Wanting to know more about this mysterious woman, Zach forces her to work for him but she pushes his buttons every chance she gets. Zach agrees to help Farrow with her legal fees and in return she agrees to help cure him of his issues.With delicious side characters and a rollercoaster ride of a story, I couldn’t help but REALLY like this book. Whilst there are some very heavy issues covered, the authors manage to balance the angst with some absolutely hilarious scenes that actually had me laughing out loud at times. The description are so good that I could picture each scene. I couldn’t help but cheer Zach on as he slowly thawed. I walked away from this book, thinking about how it is better to regret the things you‘ve done, than regret the things you didn’t do. It was quite clear throughout that the authors really enjoyed writing this book together & I particularly liked the text messages chapters. I absolutely cannot wait to read Ollie von Bismarck’s book!! Highly recommended.

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK!!The story had me sucked in from the very first page.I was instantly drawn to the characters, wanted to find out more of their story and share their emotions with them as I turned every page of this book.The story of Octi and Zachary Sun has all the ingredients of a fairy tale … however it was a passionate , sexy tale with two characters who love to hate each other until they cross the line.« Hatred isn’t about what you lack. It’s about someone finding something they want in you and realizing they can’t take it. »Zach is not looking for love, with a ban on questions regarding his past and promising no future HEA, he's hardly Prince Charming material and comes across as cold, clinical and somewhat heartless.The loss of his dad changed him forever …I loved him, I truly did, but there were also times when I was so mad at him for the, albeit unintentional, pain he put Farrow through.I have to mention Oliver who I LOVE SO SO MUCH!! He lightened the mood of this dark tale. He’s banter and dialogue are EPIC!“Oliver is a self-proclaimed vaginivore,”My Dark Desire is a story full of raw emotion and the power of love, a total page turner!« My first. My only. My always. I knew, even before I said it, that it was true. I fell in love with him like the snow. The more I fell, the colder it became. »

Love, love, loveFarrow is brilliant! I love her character so much. She hasn't let her circumstances keep her down, she's strong, sassy and funny. The crap she gives Zach is very funny!And, Zach, his story absolutely broke my heart. He may have been cold and blunt to the world, but inside, he's just a broken boy who needed healing.Enter, Farrow. She is exactly what he needed. Their relationship is wonderful and I loved every minute of this book.Zach's mum irritated me a lot and was glad to see him finally stand up to her!I can't wait for the next book!And, can we also just appreciate how beautiful the cover for this book is! It's going to look so pretty on my shelf ❤️

This is book two in the “Dark Prince Road” series and can be read as a stand alone.This is a book about two broken souls who don’t know they are just looking for love.I freaking love this book! The characters are to die for. Amazing character development!! Zach and his friends are to die for. I wanted to hate Zach and I could not. Farrow is amazing and I absolutely LOVE her. All the friends will have you laughing your butt off.This book is a modern day Cinderella. I mean from the first chapter. I ate it up! The sexy time was extra spicy and soooo yummy.My heart broke many times for the characters. Their past and traumas will break you but don’t worry they slowly put you back together. I will say this book could be shortened quite a bit but I just couldn’t put it down. I read this in one sitting.I can’t wait for Oliver’s book!! Oh, and this book is freaking beautiful.
