Do these have whole pockets are is it hand and thumb? There appears to be a pocket for your thumb, but that could just be the design.

not a seperate thumb but for the whole hand, i love these, they are so much better than others i bought, real protection, very good quality.

What is the heat degree resistance of these pot holders?

I suspect only 302 degrees Fahrenheit because the kitchen aid asteroid design which is also primarily cotton with silicone grip is set to 302 degrees max. The burn point for cotton is like 400f, so definitely less than that.

do you need to wash pot holder before first use?

I never even thought to wash it. I would imagine a respectable company like KitchenAid would have mentioned it if needed.

Is the majestic yellow more on the mustard end of yellow?

I didn't order this color, but I got the gray color. These are the best potholders that I have ever had. The nonslip has saved my hands several times.
