Shark Fin Amplified AM/FM Antenna Universal Style (White)

I had a broken antenna base on my 2002 Lexus IS300 that the dealer wanted $300 to replace. The shark fin does not follow the curve of the top exactly, so I had to use some silicone RTV to seal the gap at the nose of the piece. I also had to cut the connectors from the +12V wire and audio cable from my old antenna and solder/shrink wrap to the shark fin antenna. The antenna coil inside the shark fin rattles a bit so I unscrewed the base and added a dab of silicone to hold it in the housing. I painted the shark fin to match the car. The reception is better then the JDM stub antenna I had and just as good as the OEM whip antenna.

Never got to install on my car, naive of me. But i didn't think you'd have to remove the headliner in order to take off the OEM mount already on the car. I thought this product was hallow underneath to where you just put this product over it. Not the case. This is actually a part that replaces the existing mount, not one the covers it up. Nevertheless, its good quality and im sure itd work great.

Works well and looks good just not a whole better than a standard antenna

I do have a little better reception than my old antennae but i am disappointed. i thought that a powered antennae would be much better.
