Great mixing
I just started watercolor painting and wanted to limited my expense until I got a better feel for the materials. Having mixed paints in a plastic palette for the last several months, these are remarkable. The wells are roughly1-¼” in diameter for the round, and 1”x1-½” for the rectangular, but the smooth surface of the ceramic makes mixing a dream. I bought two and am deciding on whether to buy a third. The ceramic mold is heavy and would not be good for traveling unless you can protect it during travel, but I like that I can mix and the palette stays put and doesn’t move around like my plastic palette did. In order to protect my table and level out the palette, I did put silicone pads on the bottom of mine to be sure it stayed in place, as the mold seemed to not set even for me.

A must have!! Love it and the porcelain allows you to have a nice white, clean palette for every use as it does not stain.
I love this palette. I am a watercolor artist and I love the fact that it has a slanted design which allows me to put the paint from the tube at the top, spray some water on the paint. The water will pull some of the pigment/paint to the bottom where it has enough room to hold the diluted paint. This allows me the option to grab the diluted paint for a bottom layer, lighter/softer color, or I can grab from the top where the concentrated paint is for a more intense and can add more dimensions to the painting. The palette is not large so it doesn't take up too much room and it helps me to limit my color palette which can make the painting more harmonious. With a limited color palette, it is easier to create good color relationships which in the end creates harmony throughout the painting! All in all, this is my favorite palette. A must have for watercolor painters!

Works great for watercolors!
It's exactly as advertised, and works great for mixing watercolor paints. The circular wells are slightly elevated in the center so that the paint pools around the edges, making it easy to pick up. The palette doesn't bead like plastic ones do, which is nice for telling how concentrated your mixtures are. And it has a nice smooth white color & finish. They are small though so if you want to mix large amounts, this is probably not be for you. The circlular wells are a bit more than 1 inch in diameter, and the rectangular ones are 1 inch wide, 1.5 inches long.

Nice but for an amateur it was not necessary.
Heavy and nice bit I needed an additional palette for mixing and my plastic one was just as good and much cheaper with a larger area in the middle fir mixing.

Perfect!
I seem to collect palettes as easily as I collect watercolors! I have so many styles. This one is by far my favorite. Its small footprint is perfect for my limited space. In addition, it is so well made. I can place it on my tabletop without any fear of it marring the surface. I also appreciate the slanted cells for paint. You can place fresh paint from the tube on the top, spritz it with water and let the puddle form a wash. Nice.

Great little mixing tray for watercolors.
I really love the porcelain for watercoloring. When I make washes, they don't bead up. It's a small enough palette to carry around to my studio upstairs or take it out to use special colors for a particular painting I'm working on that I don't usually use on my main palette. But because it's porcelain and on the heavy side, I would never try to use it for traveling.
