Worked very well. Then it broke. STILL waiting for my refund.
This unit works as intended and streams very nicely. You will need a router. I evaluated this with less-than-GB router and although the resolution was less than HD (especially during heavy action scenes), I am sure a more powerful router will solve this.Note: After a couple weeks (of evaluation use only) the unit doesn't recognize it's plugged it. Tried multiple outlets. Sending the unit back and will replace it once my budget will allow for a more powerful router.FOLLOW UP (8/28): Sent this back to the seller on the 11th and they received it on the 17th (confirmed). It is now the 28th and I have not be reimbursed.

It broke with light use & not under warranty.
We purchased one of these devices for use in a professional setting (consulting firm). Unfortunately, the device seems to be low quality. It quit working after minimal use (maybe a week) and the company indicated that the warranty would not cover repair or replacement. We have a good quality network with >$100,000 of computer equipment on the same network. It seems unlikely that anything on our system could have fried the device.Anyway. Nothing i can do now. We lost the $500 and will not be returning customers. They did offer us a discount ($300) on a replacement device, but the seems pretty risky. I need to find a better quality system.

Easy set-up - Price point makes it affordable
Thoroughly easy to set up. I can now watch a stream on any RTSP enabled software like VLC. I connected it to one of the outputs of an HDMI switch so I can watch any input. In other words, I can monitor my security cameras, etc. after switching to that feed. It has been running for about three weeks now with no issues at all.

Do not Buy a ProVidoeInstrument product!
This unit is good until it lasts which was only a few months for me, A direct tv dealer installed it at my hotel for a local channel. It worked for about 9 months as intended.Opened RMA with PROVIDEOINSTRUMENTS, sent them the device for repair/replacement since it comes with 5yr warranty. Only to find out the warranty is pretty much useless as they claimed the power port was damaged. When this device was installed at my property it was mounted and connected to a UPS and never moved or unplugged. So, they voided the warranty and wanted $200 to repair it. Even though the RJ45 port stopped working and the device had power. So, buying a $500 Encoder from a reputable brand is useless, Expensive item does not always mean it’s the best.If you want to buy anything from ProVidoeInstrument I suggest you read the fine line on warranty, they do not cover any of the ports on their devices and those are the things mostly go bad. There is no need to pay 3x the price when you can buy a generic one for way cheaper. I replaced the encoder with “ISEEVY H.264 HDMI Video Encoder” from amazon which costs around $155 and works great as intended. Even if this generic one works as intended for a yr. it will be worth it.So it is not worth it when you buy a $500 which works exactly the same as $155 one, only later to find out it doesn’t even last a yr. and the warranty is completely useless.

Check Voltage and Amps on device and power adapter!
I purchased directly through the vendor and received an adapter that is rated at 12v 1A. The device states it draws 12v 2A (see photo of device). The device probably stopped recognizing it was plugged in because the power adapter blew out.I haven't plugged mine in yet nor tested it and am contacting the vendor tomorrow because my research tells me this won't last long of I do plug it in since the adapter will die because it can't handle the 2A draw.I will rate it higher if I actually get the proper power supply and can run it.
