Why does it need batteries? Isn't the whole point of a hydrogen fuel cell EV to eliminate the batteries & fossil fuels?

The kit has both batteries and solar panel. The two are given to show you the different energy sources to help charge the fuel cell. You don't need to use the batteries, but both show you the separation of hydrogen and oxygen to create the energy that it needs. I hope this helps.
