One router bit change with the Musclechuck? will have woodworkers wondering why this ingenious chuck wasn't invented along with the router. With just a half-turn of a hex wrench, router bits pop in and out with absolute ease. No more rummaging around for the right wrenches. Ideal for table- or CNC-mounted routers. Not only that, but the extra reach afforded by the Musclechuck allows you to perform above-table router bit changes in seconds. Unlike many other quick-change router chucks, this one doesn't rely on a cam, so it won't damage the router bit shank, and there's no risk of loosening over time. Features: Easy installation: Musclechuck threads directly onto your router's existing spindle The Musclechuck accepts 1/2" shanks out of the box Chuck adds approximately 1/2" to the length of your router spindle, which makes more cutting length available when the router is mounted in a table.

High quality, smooth operation
Bought this for two of my routers (Hitachi M12VE and Makita 2301FCIt fit easily on both (NOTE - make sure you buy the appropriate model for your specific router) and works like a charm.Machining is high quality and the operation is easy - no more spanners etc - just a twist from the hex. This is for sure a luxury item as one can easily go through ones entire life with the regular collet - but it makes like easy for bit changes, especially in a table mounted scenario

Doesn't fit Makita 3612C
The title states for makita 3-1/4 hp routers, which I have and it has my model number in the description and the package it arrived in but the diameter of the chuck is much bigger, about 7/8" and my makita is closer to 3/4". This is my quick Ballpark measurement because it is metric. Doesn't matter to me, it just DOESNT FIT. now the hassle of returning.

Echoing the other comment
I purchased one of these from the seller's webpage directly. after also finding the RT0701 on the compatible list. It's not even close. This is for 3 1/4 horsepower Makita router. I can only assume seller did not even bother to check before listing RT0701-compatibility and quickly took it down and hoped nobody would complain when he discovered the error.I also sent the seller a collet and collet nut for a Skil 1817 router to check for compatibility with any existing types at my own expense. When seller responded that it didn't fit any existing types and that he would charge hundreds of dollars to design a custom type, I opted instead to buy a new router and existing musclechuck. I was assured that my collet and nut would be sent to me in the package with my purchase. Yeah, that didn't happen either, and my emails on the subject went completely unanswered. The product looks as advertised. I'm going to attempt to machine an adapter for the RT0701 out of 1018 to see if I can even use the musclechuck. But since I can't use the product I am stuck reviewing the seller-manufacturer, and so far he seems to failing in every way you really don't want someone to fail.

Beware this is NOT compatible with the RT0700C
Model type 9 is listed as being compatible with the Makita RT0700C. Which it is not. I am now stuck with a beautifully made but useless paper weight and unable to return it as the Amazon Return window closed before I got a chance to test it on my router. What is unclear is if I received a wrong model or that it is indeed a Type 9 but is not actually usable on this particular router.Left scratching my head!!!
