Excellend book on Filipino Martial Arts
Excellent book by a certified Lameco Eskrima instructor. David Gould has finally completed his much anticipated book on Lameco Eskrima, the Filipino martial art system created by the late Edgar Sulite. David Gould is a recognized Lameco Eskrima expert and instructor with extensive training under Edgar Sulite. The book is written well with few if any grammar or spelling mistakes, contains hundreds of pictures, and is edited very well by the publisher, Tambuli Media. The book flows very well and is easy to read and understand. The book details the chronological history of Edgar Sulite's life and art, bios and essays from many of the original members of his backyard training group, and finally a selection of techniques illustrating this unique Filipino martial art. Guro Gould chronicles Punong Guro Sulite from his early training influences in the Philippines, the further development of Lameco in Manila, his early travels abroad, his arrival and early days in America, and the development of the Lameco SOG. The history contained in this book is outstanding and gives unique insight into the man and his system of fighting. While the book does include a section on Lameco techniques, this is not a how to or curriculum type book. The book gives the reader a selection of techniques demonstrated by several senior Lameco SOG members and does a good job giving the reader an idea of the unique nature of Lameco Eskrima. Overall this is one of the best books I have encountered on Filipino martial arts and should be in every FMA practitioner's library. Great job Guro Gould and Tambuli Media!

LAMECO Eskrima !
I personally found the book to be most informative and an easy read on the life of one of the greatest Filipino martial arts teachers ( Edgar Sulite and the founder of the LAMECO system of Eskrima ), though short lived, he fast became a legend among his peers. The book is well structured with Sulite’s training ideas and philosophy of combat. I recommend this well written book ( by one of his personal backyard students ) to anyone’s martial arts library, I have read others on the subject of FMA and this one is by far one of the best. 🙏🏼

A stellar work on FMA, particularly Lameco Eskrima
Guro Dave Gould, the radiant standard bearer for the late PG Edgar Sulite, hits one right out of the ball park with his second book on the topic of Lameco Eskrima (but the first one in english)! He shows his expertise as well as engaging writing style with his stories and insights into not only Lameco Eskrima and Filipino Martial arts, but also the often left out pedagogy of martial arts training and learning. The first third covers what I already mentioned, then is followed by continued stories and information from PG Sulite's other SOG students and friends, and ends with a large number of photo sequences demonstrating a number of techniques. There are only a small number of books available in the USA on the subject of FMA in general, and out of those only a handful of those (in my own opinion) are stellar. This is surely one of those most remarkable representations. As a lifelong serious martial arts practitioner and hobby martial arts researcher, I give my full recommendation to FMA students in general (especially De-Camp 1-2-3, Kalis Ilustrisimo, Pekiti Tirsia, and Modernos Largos, or the masterful combination of those we call Lameco Eskrima), as well as those who are interested in learning more about the effective and improved delivery of martial arts instructional material.

The author Guro David Gould and publisher Master Mark Wiley did a very good job at presenting the history and evolution of Lamec
Lameco Eskrima: The Legacy of Edgar G. Sulite was an outstanding read. The author Guro David Gould and publisher Master Mark Wiley did a very good job at presenting the history and evolution of Lameco Eskrima. The author was also very effective at capturing the personal thoughts of the Sulite Orehenal "Backyard" Group. I found this part of the book especially enjoyable. It allowed me to get a glimpse of Punong Guro Edgar's philosophy, his approach to fighting and his incredible level of skill.A good number of drills and techniques were also presented throughout the book. There was a nice balance of photos and descriptions to help the reader transition from technique to technique. The popularity of Lameco Eskrima and relevance of the system in the FMA world today is a testament to the system and to its creator. I would highly recommend this for any serious FMA practitioner.~ Jay Fujimoto

This is an excellent book if you want an up close and personal look at Lameco, its founder, Edgar Sulite, the legacy that he left behind, and the men that continue to carry the torch. This book contains vast amounts of information, and over a hundred pages and photos that deal with combative application. I highly recommend this book! It's a great read and a must buy for anyone wanting to learn about Lameco Eskrima.

Excellent
If you have more than a passing interest in the Filipino martial arts you should read this book. The first 170 pages consists of a chronicle of Edgar's life and training - it draws on the memories of some of his closest friends and students. This is then followed by 100 pages of technique photos. The whole book is endorsed by Jun Pueblos - Edgar's friend and the man who encouraged him to make a serious study of eskrima in the first place.
