Picked up this thermometer to supplement my other one I currently use in the kitchen, by supplement I really mean to act as a double as I always lose my kitchen thermometers for some reason. This is actually the 5th that I've ordered in as many years, one was lost to the sink, one was lost camping and a third was lost by a gremlin. I still have my 4th, but that's only because it has a magnet though when I tried to find it to use as a comparison to this one it was somehow lost. Enough with my life story here's the info.Thermometer came well packaged by the seller and included batteries. There was one CR2032 installed in the thermometer and another in a plastic bag inside the box. I assumed that there was no battery installed hence the loose one in the box but was happily mistaken. The spare is now going into my battery drawer to be eaten by my thermometer stealing gremlin.Accuracy- The device reads a few degrees off, I tried a glass of ice water and the initial reading was 36.0'F, I went through the calibration procedures to set it at 32.0'F and tested the water again a few minutes later (water was filled with ice in a Yeti tumbler with plenty of time to cool off prior to calibration), at the retest it read 33.7'F, it's close enough for me but I'd rather have it be a bit closer, I will conduct a boiling water test soon and see how it compares.Features- You can check the maximum and minimum of a reading of the thermometer, this is a very handy feature to have. There is also a built in backlight (activated by a button), the backlight does not stay on long, so it's one feature I'd like to see improved, make it stay on for 10 seconds instead of the 2 or so it currently stays on for. The thermometer also has a built in magnet, this allows easy storage on a fridge or microwave. I would avoid putting it on a hot surface such as a BBQ grill lid as the plastic could melt. The thermometer also shuts off automatically when collapsed for storage and is also advertised as waterproof. I'll give this one a try for awhile and update this review if anything changes. For now this will be my primare thermometer so I'll be using it daily.

I purchased this after my old digital thermometer suddenly stopped working. I cook a lot and I’ve been cooking even more often during quarantine, even making dishes using bulk meat straight out of the freezer so I felt a replacement food thermometer was a necessity. I did a few tests and it seems very accurate with both hot & cold temps. I like that the probe tucks away and it turns on & off by pulling it out and clicking it back into place. It’s super easy to see the large readout with the backlight and there’s a strong magnet to hang it on your fridge or the side of your oven to keep it handy. I was also glad to see that while it came with a battery pre-installed there was also a backup battery in the package. Considering the ease of use, functionality, & price I’m very happy with this digital thermometer and I’d recommend it to other home chefs.

So I got a crappy pencil thermometer that came from one of my bbq gift set and was wayyyy off. Didn't want to pay $100 for a Thermoworks and decided to buy this based on the positive reviews at a fraction of the price. Thanks to Prime I received this unit in 1 day. Package came with instructions and an extra battery which is a bonus. Instructions were clear and also included instructions on how to calibrate it if it's off. It's very simple to use, you just pull the probe out and it will turn on automatically. It has a hold button to hold the temperature while you take out the probe as well as a backlit light. The last button switch between ºC and ºF. I tested this with both chicken and bread. Reading was fast about 4 seconds and temperature was pretty accurate. This thermopen says it's waterproof but instructions says it shouldn't be soaked in water too long? I will continue to test and provide an update shortly. Best thing is this thermopen is lifetime warranty so piece of mind for a fraction of the price of a Thermoworks!

I received the thermometer within a day of ordering. I do lots of grilling and smoking, and these help you ensure the meat is at the correct temperature. The thermometer comes in a nice box, shrink wrapped with instructions and a spare battery. There is no little tab to pull to activate the unit, so if yours sat on the shelf for a while, the spare battery would com in handy from the start. I'll tuck mine away for later. It is a standard CR2032 battery available most anywhere batteries are sold.This thermometer has a feature I've not seen on other instant read thermometers, a calibration feature. The instructions provided tell you to take cup of ice water from the fridge, and immerse the probe in the ice water. I found that placing the probe directly on a ice cube provided better results. The thermometer correctly read 32 degrees F out of the box. I tested in boiling water, and got a reading of 111.8 F which was close enough for me.I probed steaks just removed from Sous Vide bath, and the temperature was exactly what was set.The thermometer has a hole in the handle for hanging, but the instructions indicate it can be hung vertically on the refrigerator using the internal magnet. A great tool for the money!

I have had this thermometer for a couple of weeks now and have used it for baking, cooking, and measuring ambient air temps for bread proofing, and it works quite well and it is precise. It also measures quickly enough for my needs (within a few seconds) and is also a good size for holding and the screen is also quite large which makes reading it easy, especially if you are at least an arms length away. Overall, a very good value. I will be interested to see if it the unit holds up over the next several months, but the quality seems pretty good.

I ordered this thermometer to replace another brand that I have used for a number of years. That brand now costs over $100! That's about -> six times as much <- as this thermometer. This unit works great and the temperature appears immediately (not the 2 - 5 seconds advertised).It is a great bargain, and it even includes an extra battery! Well done, Deiss!!

Over the last few weeks I have purchased 2 thermometers the first was to sit on the side of a oven or BBQ and tell the temp, which was great but the plastic melted. The second was a probe but it was hard to read, although accurate it kept on stopping and starting.I purchased this one, and when it came I thought it is not the right one, but thought I would use it all the same. It is fairly simple to use and the numbers are clear. They could be better, as I have seen with other thermometers. However the ease of use the accurate readings has meant (if you cook to temp) this is a good buy. I would recommend and I would say this is really good to use. IT takes some getting use to but we are talking mins, not sec'e. I love it now, and would purchase again.
