I Passed The Exam - Some Valuable Tips That You Do Not Want To Miss :
I got this book on November 20th of 2016 and passed on March 20th of 2017, full five months in the very first attempt. I am not in the financial industry, do not know anyone in the financial industry and so more than 75 % of the material was greek to me. If you are a hardworking, time-constrained middle aged person who shuffles between long commute, that soccer class for your son, that sporadic grocery trips, then plan the test four months from the date of purchase of the book. If you were working in the financial industry many of the material might be pretty basic but certainly, that was not my case.QUALITY OF THE CONTENT:First and foremost, this got to be one of the best books to pass the exam. A fat 600+ pages with 2 -5 questions at the end of each subsection and nearly 50+ questions at the end of each section. In between all the work and family commitments, it took nearly 2+ months to finish the book ( with extensive highlighting), re-reading certain sections etc. Armed with this knowledge, if you appear for the exam, there is only one guarantee - YOU WILL FAIL.!THE QBANK FACTOR: It is absolutely essential that you have to use qbank from Kaplan. I made a mistake of finishing the entire book and THEN buying QBANK ( somewhere in Jan 2017). They have a whopping 3200 questions and the questions challenge the gray areas of law exams plus the routine questions as well. It is better to finish each of the sections, spend some time with Qbank and move on to the next segment.Qbank suggests if you can get 80 % consistently in its test, more than likely you will pass the real exam. THAT IS 100 % TRUE. After you finish the entire book, challenge yourself with 40 questions and go back and read the answers on everything you got wrong. Flag those which you think were guesses and verify those answers as well. The focus should be to find at least few areas of material that you did not know and learn that. When I appeared for the test, I had an average of 82 % in Kaplan Qbank. I was so confident of passing yet the questions were surprisingly difficult and ended up passing with 77% or 108 questions correct ( to pass you need 94).SOME THINGS TO KNOW:There are lots of material you will learn in the course of the learning process. But there are plenty of things that you would have got out of job experience. As an example, what is an ex-dividend date, examples of opportunity cost?. what is the best way to measure your performance, is it total return or return compared against a benchmark?COST:Total cost is $315. The book is $75.00 , Qbank is $75 and the test is $165.00. Kaplan offers other products like a quick sheet, mock exams etc which really are not needed if you are sincere and honest with QBank.THE DAY OF THE EXAM:At Pearson they treat you like an enemy combatant checking your pockets, eye glasses ( eye glass case not allowed inside). If you wear a sweater and walk in and if you want to remove the sweater because it is warm, you have to walk out and remove the sweater ( cannot remove sweater inside the hall). A girl was asked to remove her headband and she ended up with a ponytail. I had a cup of coffee that they asked me to put in a locker and when I said can I access the coffee, they said, “ no you are not allowed to access the locker and if you need to access it, we will have to log a report to FINRA”. So passed it on. They did not allow to keep the coffee outside as well. ( it has to be in the locker). Only medications are allowed. Not sure if the person at the Pearson center near my home was a jerk or it is same everywhere.TAKE A BREAK:If you know the material there is plenty of time. If you want to take a break, it is unscheduled meaning the clock will not stop. When you go out and come back in for a cup of water, you will be subject to same security check. Do not be put away by it. I took first break at 70 questions, went out, drank a cup of water, stretched myself and came back ( lost 5 min). This really refreshes your mind to move to next set of questions. I took my next break after I finished all 140 questions ( 5 min). Came back to review all the flagged questions and everything in general until about 2 minutes to completion.SUMMARY: This is a relatively easy exam (vs other IT certifications I carry like Hadoop) but that does not mean it is a breeze. The cardinal rule of spending hours of studies applies here as well. email me at coolchandra at gmail or visit my website modestreturns. If you found the review useful, please like it.Goodluck!

Marks all through the book when I paid so it wouldn't have them
I know it was used but description said it would have no marks. Didn't pay new price but could have paid 1/10th of the price for one this marked up. Don't buy. They are no honest and you'll have a book so marked up it's nearly useless.

Seasoned advisors recommended
If you're a lawyer, or very well read, it's wonderful. For the average individual - look elsewhere.

I think it is much better to have more information than less information
Kaplan's series 65 book is very comprehensive, which I think is a positive characteristic. Some people might view the book as having too much information. I think it is much better to have more information than less information. Anyone studying for the series 65 exam should also get a question bank. If you need extra help with the series 65 exam, you might want to work with a series 65 tutor.

Great Item for the upcoming exam
Great book. NASAA doesn't have a guide for the Series 65 and this is the only exam manual that I could find for reviewing.
