Silky SKY 950 02 29 Blade Sharpening File

I haved owned a Silky Hayauchi pruning saw for the last 10 years. I live on over an acre with many mature trees. Blade used extensively. Aside from cutting a large tree down this is the only saw you will need for your pruning needs.1. Clean saw blade with oven cleaner.2. File has the right angle. Vice preferred. Otherwise anchor blade as well as possible.3. Make 5-6 long stroke passes with file every other tooth. Flip blade and repeat every other tooth. Wipe down when finished and as good as new.Only draw back file does not have handle for ease of use.

Exactly what was needed to sharpen my saw.

My favorite saw file. Also known as a feather file or saw file. It only sharpens one side of a tooth at a time. Triangle files can often sharpen two sides of adjacent saw teeth at a time if they are the standard 60 degrees apart. Not all saws are. This always works. I have used it on three different pruning saws and two crosscut saws. Works great. I put a "Nicholson Ergonomic Rubber File Handle with Inserts, 4-1/2" Length" on it with a couple of love taps from a rubber mallet.

Worked perfectly on my silky saw. Used oven cleaner to clean the blade. Just a few strokes of this file brought my blade back to original sharpness.

Haven't used it yet, as my Silky Katanaboy is still scary sharp... but I have test-fit the saw to the teeth and the angles line up perfectly. I will update if my saw ever dulls and this file is required, but the way the saw is holding up it might be a while!

I haven't had a chance to use it much but seems quite good and should do the job fine.

This thing sharpens my chainsaw and pruning tools. Expensive but worthwhile compare to have the job done by a store. Glad to own it.
