Kobe Bryant: The Inspiring Story of One of Basketball's Greatest Shooting Guards (Basketball Biography Books)

As soon as the news reported the passing of Kobe Bryant, my son was a Kobe fan just like million of others. Kobe was a true inspiration to children and adults throughout the world. I went online to my favorite shopping site....Amazon...and purchased this book for my adult son. I brought up all Kobe items Amazon had available for purchase and as a PRIME member, my orders was delivered the next day. I love Amazon, they keep prices on all products reasonable, so that young, old, and elderly can afford products to enhance their life. I brought pleny of items relating to Kobe from Amazon; while other vendors was trying to make a fast buck by increasing the price.

Clayton Geoffreys in-depth biography is a chronological recount of Kobe Bryant’s eventful and legendary career from a positive, praising standpoint. The book begins by introducing Kobe as a young child, explaining his early life circumstances, as well as how his situation and certain parts of his life influenced his career that followed. The book then segways into the beginnings of his legacy, starting with his “incandescent performance”even as a high schooler, and then details his jump from high school to the NBA, his own personal “leap of fate”, and then becomes a sequential recount of Kobe’s NBA career, with various anecdotes that add to the character of Kobe Bryant interspersed throughout the book. Although this book was written while Kobe was still in the league, his legacy, such as “being one of NBA’s greatest individual performers” and entrance into the conversation of the greatest ever made for a great follow up to the to-be-continued chronological retelling of Kobe’s career. The book closes out by telling how Kobe, on and off the court, ultimately affected the game of basketball itself - “one of [the NBA’s] most notable winners”.Although some concepts in this book are hard to grasp for a young person, the author uses language that is clear enough for anyone to understand, and still conveys points extremely effectively. An interesting aspect of this book is the fact that it is written in a format of a story, with a clear plot, but still is considered a biography because of the way it presents that plot and the information that it holds, which makes the book very engaging. This is a specific example of why I consider the book exceptional. Through clear language, the book presents information and is organized into a plot that develops the personality and attributes of Kobe Bryant (the purpose of the book) which ultimately keeps the reader engaged and makes the book an informative, interesting read.When Kobe retires, in general, basketball fans will look back on Kobe Bryant’s career and reflect on it as an especially memorable one, and will look back on Kobe as maybe one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball. The only asterisk that could possibly be placed by Kobe Bryant’s name in the list of NBA players with great behavior is his controversial rape case. The case tainted Kobe’s reputation and the author made sure to include this major event in Kobe’s career from the least bias standpoint he could. The book, overall, praises Kobe Bryant and all of his accomplishments, which makes it hard to incorporate an aspect so negative into this book, but the author does it gracefully, and efficaciously. Through how the book handled explained that situation and other ones give me a better mental image of Kobe Bryant, which is what the author set out to do.Overall, this book doesn’t have any negatives. In my mind, and I’m sure in every one else’s mind who read this book, Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest NBA players of all time, which was conveyed well by this book. Furthermore, I gained a more accurate understanding of Kobe’s legacy and his greatness, which I view to be the best outcome of reading this book.

I read a lot of biographies, and this one is definitely a stand out! The writing is excellent, the pace steady, and the information non repetitive. I found that I learned alot about Kobe Bryant that I did not know before. This book delves into his early life, his playing years and comes all the way up to where he is currently. If you want to read a great book that is well written and informative then pick up a copy of this and enjoy learning about Kobe Bryant and how he played alongside Shaquille O’Neal, Robert Horry, Metta World Peace, Derek Fisher, and Pau Gasol and so many other giants of the court.I Highly Recommend this book

No doubt Kobe Bryant is one of the best basketball players of all time. From high school to the NBA, he is still making his mark on the sport.This eBook reveals some very interesting facts about his personal life, career history and his many and still counting achievements. Highly recommended to all basketball lovers!The author does an excellent job of providing an informative overview of his life and how he overcame a lot of obstacles on and off the court!

Got this for my son for Xmas as he lives basketball!! Was expecting a proper paperback book, a full autobiography but this is more of a pamphlet type book. Very thin, only 59 pages with large type! More of a brief summary of Kobe Bryant! Think there's more info on Wikipedia!!!

Fascinating book about one of the top scorers in league history - the enormously popular Kobe Bryant!I was really interested to know a bit about how Bryant started out. His resiliance and dedication to the sport during his high school years really impressed me and will serve as an inspiration to many.I was fascinated to read about Kobe being picked by the Charlotte Hornets and traded to the Lakers and it's amazing to think of how controversial the deals would have been at the time. The book provides a good insight into the world of basketball drafting and dealing.Interesting to hear about the early years of Kobe's NBA career in the 1990's when he started off with limited minutes.We also learn a bit about his personal life, eg. Bryant going to the High School Prom with Brandi - with both of them having already risen to fame at an early age - and therefore getting all that attention from the other prom attendees! (A taste of the fame that would accompany his life throughout his career).It was also interesting to hear about how in 2000 his career stepped up a notch and he set out on a very impressive upwards trajectory in the sport, despite some ups and downs in his family life at that time.We learn through the book that it wasn't all smooth sailing for Bryant but it's inspirational to hear how he came back stronger and stronger from each setback, learning some useful lessons along the way.Really enjoyed hearing about his time in the Lakers with the likes of Shaquille O'Neal, Phil Jackson and Lamar Odom.With Bryant being in possession of 5 NBA titles and with his every word being retweeted hundreds of times on Twitter, this book will surely have a huge audience and I highly recommend it to basketball and NBA fans of all ages!
