This works just as described and it is great! This device is designed to alert you when the temperature or humidity goes out of your own set range. It is not designed to check status in real time at any given moment, however you CAN do that for $0.25 each time which is incredibly cheap. A subscription is required to use this device, and you can choose one month or one year or any monthly combination. I paid for the seasonal subscription, a four month period for winter in MI. Set your low threshold temperature higher if you want to be notified sooner that the temperature is decreasing. It cost $.25 per real time temperature check, not $2. The device checks temperature every 10 seconds and sends data to their server every hour for use in looking at your history chart later on. The data updates to your mobile/online dashboard every eight hours so you can see that. It definitely will alert you when the power goes out or the temperature or humidity exceeds your set thresholds.

We put this in our camper to monitor temperature and power. It works great! Has notified us several times when temperature gets out of the set range. Highly recommend this product! Does not need to connect to the internet.

For my commercial greenhouses, we have started using these. We have uses Sensaphone for the last 25 years but wanted to ditch the land lines and running wires to all 7 greenhouses. So easy to set up and lets me know right away if the power goes out or the temp goes below my set point. I like that I can have a seasonal plan for just the 6 months where it is vital to keep track of heat and power. Love these!

I bought this temperature monitor for my vacation cottage because our internet is spotty, so a wifi version is unreliable. Since we keep our cottage open all winter, it is crucial for us to keep track of the interior temps to make sure that the pipes don’t freeze. This unit is perfect for the job, since it not only runs on cell, but also has a battery backup. Recently, the temperatures in the area dropped to 17 below zero and the power was knocked out. We were able to keep a close eye on the interior temperatures of our house to make sure it never got below freezing. Fortunately the power was restored and the heat came back on, but if it had dropped too low, we would have been able to call a neighbor to get our generator going. So, the Marcell was really helpful.The unit was easy to set up and connected right away. I jus followed the instructions and it was up and running in minutes.The downside of this unit is that the reporting is only given every 6 to 8 hours or so. That means that in the event of an emergency, you might not know there is an issue or be able to see the trends until you trigger temp is hit and you get a text. During the outage, I ended up paying extra money to be able to get realtime data. It would be great if we could get hourly data like some of the competitor products.

I purchased MarCELL because I was looking for a temperature alert system to use in our motorhome for when we are out for a few hours on a hot day, and our precious pooch is left inside the coach. We have had issues in some RV parks on very hot days where the park loses power, and we were out and had no idea. Most temperature monitors I have found run off of WiFi, and campground WiFi is usually very very unreliable. MarCELL works off of a cell tower, so if your cell phone has service, so will MarCELL. I also bought the water sensor pucks (more for the house than the RV). When we are not out in the RV, I bring MarCELL back into the house, and I keep one of the water pucks near our aging water heater. Notifications of loss of power, temperatures or humidity have gone outside of your set ranges, or with the water pucks, it senses water, you are notified by text and email within 15 seconds. As soon as the situation corrects itself, you are notified, as well. It's also great for when you are away, say on vacation. Should your house lose power, you are alerted, and if power is out for quite a while, you can "call a friend" to go save your freezer goods! MarCELL does have a subscription cost. For a full year, it's $99 (as of this writing), or you can pay by month as you need it. This is a great device that provides great peace of mind!

The temperature sensor and app work as advertised, but what is not explain before you sign up for a monthly subscription is you can only see an update once every eight hours. To get a real time update on the temperature you have to buy credits at $.25 every time you check . Would not purchase again.

Using this in our RV to ensure temperature remains safe for when our pets are in there. Signals you when temp is out of range or power goes out. It’s quick to respond, when I unplug the RV to travel I get a text message within one minute that the power is out. Price point of purchase and flexibility of monitoring plans is one of the best on the market.
