Worked great on a Bible page tear. See HINT for removing backing.
I repaired a 1-inch tear in a Bible. It worked perfectly. It is not 100% transparent, but if you are taping something that is close to white, it might not matter. The typed print through the tape is a little muted, but definitely still easy to read. I put tape on both sides of the torn page. For me, two keys:1. I wanted something that was STRONG.2. I wanted something that would not YELLOW.HINT:Many are having trouble getting the backing off of the sticky side. I used an idea someone wrote in a comment. I used a sharp push-pin (could also use a sewing needle, or something similar), and used it to carefully pry a corner of the backing off of the sticky side of the (very thin) tape. Takes a little patience, but I did 4 pieces using this method, and it took less than a minute for each one.

Satisfied Granddaughter
I purchased this for my granddaughter. She had an accidental tear in a new book and was very sad. I sent this to her and she was very pleased with the repair.

Very hard to peel and kind of too obvious
It's so hard to separate the pieces that I almost give up each time I start. I guess I was hoping for more transparency when placed on comics. It's so obvious that you're using this stuff on a golden age comic especially. I'm almost tempted to use normal clear tape instead so I don't have to see that obvious color difference. I'm not sure if CGC will like either one anyway but I don't grade my books

Excellent product
My task was to reassemble a badly shredded 1872 newspaper page. This product worked perfectly to accomplish that. It takes a bit to master the knack of separating the adhesive tissue from the backing, but once I got that figured out the reassembly went smoothly.I would recommend this to anyone facing a similar issue. I was very pleased with the final result.

Works well.
This just works! Repairs are strong and don't show up unless you really look. On old thin paper it pretty much disappeared. Follow directions for best results.

Peel of backing on a flat surface with an xActo blade
It took me a couple of hours to get the tape away from the paper backing. FINALLY, I found that cutting a piece with backing to fit your need and then laying the strip on a flat surface, like a table top makes it easier to peel the tape off the backing. Even easier if you use a sharp xActo knife blade to peel. Also, it is not transparent, it has a white cast.

Basically tape
Okay for someone who is not serious about book binding and repair and just wants to fix some pages functionally. this is basically tape with a backing that peels off - but a little better than scotch tape. It has a sheen to it so repairs are still quite visible
