Are jumpers available to turn on the required bias resistors and/or termination resistors?

No, but you can place 120 ohm resistor across the RX line terminal block on this device. The receiver on the other end of this device TX should be terminated with 120 ohms as well.

Aside from 15kv esd and tvs overvoltage protection, does this device also have any optical or galvanic isolation? thanks

Sorry, SH-U11 RS485 RS422 module does not have optical or current isolation, if you need you can buy a RS485 RS422 isolation adapter in our store

Are these the ones that can be used to communicate with your solar charge controllers?

This has a 2 or 4 wire RS485 interface that works with most any device that has a RS485 interface, but to do the communication you need some other piece of software to connect.

Useful adaptor

This USB to 422 / 485 adaptor was easy to set-up on my XP laptop, once I had downloaded the USB driver. I did need to go into hardware manager to find out the com port number assigned. So far I have just done a loop test to check it is functioning (RS422), all seems OK.One suggestion is to purchase a short USB A male to female cable so the adaptor is not hanging off the computer's USB port. I found RealTerm software on the internet which works well with this device.G

OK, but would be better with addition of a +5v terminal.

This works OK, but it's annoying not to have a 5v terminal like a lot of other adapters.

Great little adaptor - I will be buying more!

RS422 can be a trial to get working - but with this device it just worked perfectly first time.The labelling on the back is clear and meaningful.The indicator LEDs are a really useful feature.
