The SUPER food for all companion birds
I've been raising cockatiels for several decades; and, there are three things that always worry me:1) The fact that parrots are expert at hiding maladies and injuries until they become very severe2) The serious dearth of Board-certified Avian Veterinarians (ABVP)3) The over-abundance of vet 'dabblers', who know how to clip a bird's wings, and market themselves as 'exotic-bird experts' (if they aren't ABVP, they aren't Avian vets!)With an hour's drive to my nearest ABVP, it's important that I do everything in my power to keep my birds healthy..., and that starts with Harrison's Bird Foods. Developed by one of the world's top Avian Vets, and the only bird foods made in a 'human' cereal processing plant, where they are subject to the highest level of purity and quality control. When weaning a bird onto a pellet diet, I start with Harrison's High Potency for the first 6 months. This super-charged food provides increased amounts of nutrients and boost every aspect of the bird's health. After 6 months, you switch the birds over to Harrison's Lifetime. This is how I became aware of Harrison's pellets: I had a cockatiel who had plucked all the feathers from under her wings for 6 months; so, I took her to one of the aforementioned 'exotic bird experts'. He looked at her for 90 seconds, diagnosed the plucking as the parrot "...having a new hobby..." and charged me $85.00. I then took her to an ABVP, who tested her droppings, gave her a detailed examination and diagnosed her as suffering from malnutrition (Hartz seed mix) and a yeast infection. He prescribed the Harrison's High Potency for her nutrition, and medicine for the infection. After 3 months, she became calm, stopped plucking, and became a happy, healthy little girl.I find that small parrots (cockatiels, conures, etc.) prefer the smaller size of the Super Fine (it looks like seeds). But, there is an appropriate size for your bird. If you love your bird companion, and want to ensure that they are as healthy as can be, then you owe it to yourself to get them on Harrison's.

Good quality parrot food. Much healthier than seed
Pretty pricey but much healthier than seed. If your friend is important to you I would change to this verse seed. Much better for your bird!

Quality bird food!
This bird food is phenomenal! I had one English budgie that lived to be 16 years old on this food. He finally passed, but his buddy is still living and he is almost 14 years old. They love the pellets and they don’t make a mess either. I highly recommend this bird food.

Good for Picky Eaters
I have 3 Pacific parrotlets, and they all have very different personalities and tastes. One in particular is quite picky about what she will eat. She's our little rescue birb, and she was raised on nothing but seed. My 2 boys are both much better eaters, as they have been raised eating fresh vegetables, grains, legumes, etc. - but they still enjoy these pellets added to their diet on occasion to give some variety, or used as treats for training sessions!Peep has come around on eating vegetable chop if I cut/blend the pieces fine enough for her, but she still prefers seeds and pellets, and sometimes goes on hunger strike from chop. Since I can't let her eat only seeds, I have to substitute her diet with a lot more pellet than I would prefer, and she's not overly fond of the cold extruded, more nutritious varieties. As far as regular pellets go, Harrison's and Roudybush are my top choices. Both still have more filler than I'd like, but not nearly so bad as most of the stock kept at pet stores. The reason for only 4 stars is because I disagree with the percentage of pellets being recommended for a bird's daily diet from Harrison's and other manufacturers. Unless they cannot tolerate it (like my fussy eater), parrots should be eating a larger portion of fresh veg and a smaller portion of pellets - especially those with high amounts of corn and seeds.

My canary's health is improving very quickly on this and he loves it.
I took my canary to see my avian veterinarian. My new canary was having symptoms of malnutrition. I mentioned to my vet that I was going to start my canary on Kaytee Exact Rainbow Canary/Finch (pelleted) diet. He said that was a very good food and also recommended Harrison's High Potency pellets. The first day I offered the Kaytee Exact Rainbow exclusively in a separate dish without any seed in the cage. The first day the canary only ate some of this out of hunger. The next day he wouldn't eat it. I mixed it with seed after that and I don't think he touched the pellets. Another day I tried soaking them and offering as a wet food with his favorite flavored vitamin powder on it and he wouldn't touch it.I had a sample packet of Harrison's High Potency "Fine" from the vet and immediately My canary started eating the pellets even though I also simultaneously put seed in a separate dish for him. That day he became more energetic and started trying to sing which he hadn't been doing. I need to mention that the "fine" sized pellets are to big for him so he has a hard time eating them, so I ground them up into smaller pieces and he loves it even more. He'll still eats seed but also eats the Harrison's pellets whether I offer the seed or not. However he seems to prefer the Harrison's pellets over the seed. He is still in transition and I usually give him just the pellets for the first part of the day and then offer seeds in the late afternoon and he does fine, but even when I give the seeds he still seems to prefer the pellets.Whether you also continue to offer seeds as a supplement or not, I definitely recommend feeding this product as a staple diet. My canary is doing much better on it. He is starting to sing again, he is much more active with a lot more energy whereas before he would just quietly sit on one perch all day.I am more than happy to purchase this on Amazon but I just wish more Veterinarians would carry the "Super-fine" sized pellet and more dealers because I needed this immediately.
