Nice simple audio switch that behaves as described. Audio performance good.
A simple two-to-one 3.5mm audio switch in a nicely-engineered black box. Good solution for a simple physical switch between speakers and headphones with all essential features: button to switch between output 1 or 2, a mute button, and a volume knob. All these physical controls are fine. The included audio cable is a nice little extra and is of good quality.Note that this is a passive switch - it does not provide amplification for speakers or headphones. So you need to think how to use it best in your audio stream. In many use cases the passive on-unit volume dial won't be enough to compensate for the different volume output of, say, powered speakers and non-powered headphones. It can after all only cut out sound not boost it. In practise for cleanest sound it might be best to just leave the volume dial always at full and set headphone levels to that with the powered speakers at zero volume then turn up the powered speaker level at the speaker end when they are used. But in summary does what it says with a good audio performance.

Fantastically useful and inexpensive piece of audio kit
I have a home recording set up with an iMac and Apogee ONE DAC. This is exactly what I needed to save 'hot plugging' and unplugging powered speakers or headphones into the DAC that only has one 3.5mm output. Previously I was recording and having to plug and unplug headphones to check a recording mix. Now with this compact device I can switch between outputs at the press of a button and easily adjust the level of the output, or mute whenever necessary. Does exactly as it says at a very reasonable cost. You could also use it for the opposite function of managing two sources into one.

Works as advertised, but beware of common ground
These seem great, I got both 1x2 and 1x4 models and they both work absolutely fine – the construction is solid enough, and with such simple circuitry there's not much that can go wrong internally I guess. I don't know how durable the switches are, though.Worth noting: the 1x2 model isolates all three conductors on the inactive port, but the 1x4 model only switches the two audio lines; ground is common between all five ports. In other words, you're unlikely to have problems with ground loops with the 1x2 version, but with the 1x4 version you might get some hum depending on what you're plugging into it. This isn't a dealbreaker, there are ways to mitigate the problem, but it's a bit disappointing.

Works fantastic for its purpose and price
I bought this as I wanted to connect my GameCube and PC to my speakers.I had an audio cable connecting the monitor that my GameCube was plugged into to one of the inputs on the splitter and a cable conencting my pc to the remaining input. Finally, I connected my speakers to the output on the front and lo and behold I can now switch between my pc audio and the GameCube audio at the press of a button! In terms of audio quality I noticed no difference between plugging them into my speakers directly or through the splitter. Plugging my headphones into the output led to a lot of hissing and static noise though which was remedied by adjusting the volume knob. Not an ideal solution but it worksThe build quality is great, sturdy and feels nice to the touch. Also note for some people: this won't let you listen to both sources at the same time, it's a switch not a mixer. My only criticism for future revisions would be to have the output come out the side or the back for aesthetic reasons as I mainly intend it to be plugged into my speakers. It'll look much better if it were to come out the back ratehr than the front then curving backwards. But this is a minor nitpick.

NEAT, WELL-MADE BIT OF AUDIO KIT
I have only had this for two days and tried it out with a little trepidation after reading a very few negative reviews regarding sound- but the alternatives had even more negative reviews. Anyway, this impressed from the moment I opened the box. It is a solidly made little device. It does nothing to the sound - what you put in, you get back out - exactly what is required. There is no buzzing or hissing that some have reported, just clean sound. My PC is the sound source "IN" and my speakers and my headphones are the sound "OUT". The mute button is good if I get a phone call and need to stop the sound quickly. The switch switches cleanly and easily between my speakers and my headphones (my primary reason for getting the switch). I would say, as others have suggested, that the volume switch is not graduated as evenly as I would ideally like - but it turns the volume from off to full - the intermediate points on the switch do not have to be mathematically exact! So far, I can highly recommend it.

Practical
Very pleased with this and it does not need a power supply

Buzzing noise
I was really hoping this wouldn't suffer form it, but it does introduce some previously absent buzzing noise from the speakers. I sometimes turn my music off and prefer to work in silence, and the buzzing is only slight, but I just can't ignore it. If slight buzzing won't bother you, it might be a good choice for you.

Prompt delivery and the switcher works well
It's a tidy little box. Take out of the box and plug in the wires and off it goes. No fuss, no problems. It;s nice not to be having to swap cables from various devices.
