The Essential Neruda: Selected Poems

This is my first introduction to Pablo Neruda and I was a quite bewildered - especially by his early poems from the La Residencia collection and the Canto General. When I started looking for alternative translations, I quickly realized that many of these poems had been made (needlessly?) difficult in translation and simpler translations by e.g. Tomas Morin of the Heights of Macchu Picchu or by Lewis Hyde of Dead Gallop make the meaning of the earlier poems apparent and considerably more enjoyable. That being said, the later poems are much easier to understand and can easily be enjoyed with the current book.

Beautiful poems. Trying to find "Dont go far off " but got all the books I'm sure and to no avail but still beautiful poems
