Water Hammer Arrestor, 1/2 in NPT, 150 psi

Higher priced than most arresters, but this one is adjustable by varying the pressure in the device, and it lasts. My water pressure is about 80psi, and other arresters would lower the noise and pipe shaking caused by the washing machine somewhat, and then after a few months they would cease working. These arresters, when the correct pressure is applied (in my case 75psi, per the instructions) eliminate almost all of the noise and pipe shaking. What a difference!

These work well. If they do not stop hammer as made, try adjusting yet bladder pressure just a tiny bit.

I have the usual LG Washing Machine water hammer issue. All of the plumbing in the house shakes when the washer starts.I am concerned that this excessive water hammer will eventually catastrophically break one of the copper solder joints elsewhere in the house.I have city water at ~ 45 - 50 PSI.This uni looked like it would solve my water hammer.Unfortunately, it is rated at 150 PSI maximum.After installation, I fired up the washing machine.The surge arrestor shook like crazy and the the top blew off, spraying water everywhere.I thought maybe it was defective, so tried a a second. No good. Same result.Based on my experience, do not use this with LG washers.

Let me help you out. Don't waste your money on those tube type hammer arrestors. Spend a little more, and purchase this instead. Just keep air pressure on the internal diaphragm and your hammer problem will be solved.

So we have a LG washer that we bought new about 10 years ago and have been dealing with water hammer ever since (didn't have it with the previous Samsung washer). Of course, having 90 psi of water pressure from city water doesn't help matters! Anyway, we've been using those typical T-shaped water hammer arrestors (like the Sioux Chief ones) that cost about fifteen to twenty USD which used to last almost a year but over the years it's gotten worse and they barely last a few months now.I saw this product and saw the favorable reviews and figured I should give it a try. I waited until the price (which went upwards of 110 USD) came down to Earth (around 70 USD) and after getting the right fittings/connectors (as the spigot and hose endings are 3/4" GHT while the pipe fittings are 3/4" and 1/2" NPT and the water hammer device is 1/2" NPT male) and carefully tightening them up with heavy duty plumber's tape, it really seems to have solved the water hammer in our pipes caused by the washer.The instructions aren't the greatest as it tells you to adjust the air pressure inside the device but doesn't provide much details. Basically, you want to measure the water pressure at the spigot (using a 3/4" GHT female water pressure gauge) and then pump in (or remove) air into the water hammer device until the pressure is about 5 psi less than the spigot water pressure. Since our spigot water pressure is 90 psi, I got a bicycle tire pump (Schraeder type), removed the cap on the device, connected it to the pump and pumped until I got 85 psi, which took some effort, then put the cap back on. Too easy and should be simple to recharge the air in the futureOverall, really happy with this device as it seems to be able to provide continuous water hammer arresting due to the design (which uses a chamber with a diaphram that moves to absorb the water hammer) and because it can be reloaded with air when needed. Only time will tell but would recommend it for sure!

When I initially installed this, it didn't work to reduce the water hammer. I then checked to make sure it was pressurized. I then just let out a tiny bit of air and tested for the water hammer. I kept doing this until the water hammer disappeared. Pretty easy. If you end up letting out all the pressure, you'll need to re-pressurize and try again. Hope it lasts for a long time.

I like the size and shape. Also, the ease of installation and function was good but I had a different problem with hammer/vibration. So, I didn't get the full benefit of this arrester's function yet! When I have fixed all of my pipes leaking and will change to a new pump I will see the effect of this device when all of the whole house water supply is in full pressure usage. installed in march 2023 and allwas fine. recently checked the pressure in the unit and it was down to 25 psi. i filled it to 60 psi but it will not hold a charge.had to remove it and replace it with another brand's water arrestor.very disappointed with this product.
