Coulda been 5 stars...
These glasses are beautiful, and HUGE. The etching is very well done and the shape and weight of the glasses isn't awkward at all. My only issue with them lies more in the shipment than the product. I wasn't alerted by UPS when they arrived, so they sat at my apartment complex office for a week. When I picked them up and opened the box, and then the inner box I found two of the stems broken and one of the goblets missing a huge chunk. The smaller box that holds the goblets is made of thin, cheap cardboard with no padding inside, just another thin sheet of cardboard meant to hold the glasses in place. This was packed inside of a larger box that was padded very well on the sides with a ton of bubble wrap and air-sacs. However, the bottom wasn't very well padded. Any drop could have shattered them easily. Since this was a Christmas present for my boyfriend I was pretty upset. But, within 10 minutes of calling Cooking.com I have a refund credited to me and I get to keep the remaining two glasses, so it wasn't a total loss. The rep I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. They offered to ship them air, but as they wouldn't arrive til after Christmas, I opted for the refund.I will say, I feel very nervous with these in my hand. The stems are incredibly delicate; you can feel a thrumming through them if you run your finger across the goblet. They just feel like if you are surprised with one in your hand, the reaction of clenching your fist would smash it. That being said, they are gorgeous and definitely an impressive size. My boyfriend is thrilled with them and has promised only to let me wash them. ;) I'm excited to use them and we have decided that if my brother can't grind down the bottom of the remaining goblet and make it "stemless" we're going to rig it into a center-piece and make it a votive holder. It all worked out for the best and we can't wait to sip from these beautifully done glasses. Worth the money, if you're careful.

Buyer Beware. Product cheapened?
I purchased this set of four glasses twice, in December 2023 and again in May 2024. The first set of glasses (one of the set is on the right in the photos) rated a 5. They were very attractive (to us), well etched, sturdy, and dishwasher safe. The second set of glasses (on the left in the photos) was much well less attractively etched, slightly smaller and with slightly thinner glass. One of the second set cracked unexpectedly with cold white wine in it. The photos show two of the designs, but the problems with the second set were seen in all 4 designs. I would love to have another of the first set for myself or as a gift, but if your order these now, who knows what your will receive, perhaps the good quality, perhaps the lesser quality. Unless the manufacturer can address and fix the loss of quality and promise the quality of the December '23 glasses, I am staying away.Addendum: I wrote to Mikasa to inform them of this problem. They wrote back saying, essentially, that there was no problem and that, "Our current stock of the Mikasa Cheers White Wine Glasses may be slightly different than your older pieces, but is still manufactured with the same quality of workmanship and materials."ADDENDUIMSince the original review was posted, we noticed that the original good glasses had "MIkasa" etched on the base, whereas the cheap glasses do not. See photos. Somehow, it would seem, that counterfeits have gotten into the supply chain.
