I did not get paid or receive anything for my review. I personally purchased and paid for this item from Amazon.ca ( Verified Purchase ).The clear 6 lb and 16 lb Stren Magnathin monofilament line are my two favourite diameters of monofilament lines that I have used for fishing on a regular basis for the past 25 years. The 6 lb test Magnathin has a line diameter equal to most 4 lb test lines and has the strength of 8 lb test line and is the best line for crappie / pan fishing or saugers or speckled and rainbow trout. Its small diameter sinks fast and is super strong and has a low visibility and is super sensitive and will sink the hook quickly. I use it on all my smaller push button reels ( Daiwa 108 / 9300 etc ) and my 2 small extra light spinning reels.I use the clear 16 lb test Magnathin line for walleye and bass and pike and muskie and have landed numerous chinook salmon in the 30 to 40 lb range using the 16 lb test line. The 16 lb test is super sensitive and super strong and is great in weeds or along rocky bottoms and for fishing in really strong rapids and has a small diameter that is equal to 12 lb test monofilament lines. The 16 lb test is my number one choice for large spool capacity push button reels ( Daiwa 117 ) and medium and large spinning reels and is on all my Daiwa and Shimano bait cast reels. It has less memory / coil than normal monofilament lines and casts farther than any other monofilament line I have ever used. I have used this line since the 1980's. It is outstanding. It is also misunderstood. Most line manufactures cheat. They will say a line is 10 lb. when it is actually closer to 12 lb. Everyone says see how strong it is! You will find that Magnathin actually under 11 lb. As a result you are comparing apples and oranges. If I was switching from another line of say, 10 lb. then use 12 lb Magnathin. If you compare diameters they will be almost exactly the same and you will be getting a superior line. I have landed a 45 lb Halibut on 12 lb. Magnathin. You just need to be aware that the thinner diameter requires closer attention to any rough spots etc. Knot strength is superior also but when using a fine diameter line use good knots and retie regularly. Magnathin is a very high performance product. As such it will provide low stretch, longer casts, catch finicky biters and have superb handling and "feel" with light lures.The secret to any good fisherman is "Attention to Detail". If you are just out to relax and have a cold one than up the line test. You will still get excellent performance, knot strength and "feel". Whatever you do measure the actual diameter and do not believe what the manufactures say.
