Inexpensive and gets the job done well
Got these for fermenting some basic meads and sake that have alot of solid material in them. The wide mouth makes it easy to place and remove materials. Also makes it easier to clean. As far as sturdienss goes they arn't the best. The glass is relitively thin and I am a little extra careful with these comapred to other glass carboys i have. But for the price they are well worth it.

For a hobbyist or pro, these are perfect.
Bad news first:Glass is somewhat thinner than the industrial plug stopper versions.Good news:It has a wide mouth for extremely easy cleaning versus the industrial bottles. If you're not moving your jars then you really don't have to worry about breaking them. These come with the sealing lids, rubber gaskets, and vent systems with them.If you are making meads, cyser, or anything where you're putting large fruit then you're going to want a wide mouth opening for easy removal so you don't have to use a coat hanger to pull out the chunks. The white mouth also allows you to get your hand in there and touch the surfaces with the soapy sponge to thoroughly clean it.If you're starting out hobby alcohol making then these are perfect for you. If you want to step up your game you should look for a five gallon carboy with a wide mouth. But for me, I make small batches and so I have six of these with different flavors going. I also have two extra so I can rack them over. If you're contemplating these and you're reading this review just pull the trigger on these. These are the ones you want. You won't regret these for use as fermenting jars.

Super good glass carboys, great for mead and all other brews
I uses this to rack into secondary for my mead. Really good quality glass, and although the airlock is somewhat cheaply made, it works perfectly as described. I have not noticed any leaks, everything seems to be airtight, and I'm really impressed with how solid the glass feels. Will definitely be buying more of these in the near future from this supplier

Not a bad option - but there may be better
First things first, this set come with two glass jars with measurements marked up the sides, two lids with holes drilled in the middle, rubber grommets to help seal the holes, and two airlocks to insert once you have the grommets in place. The big issue I had was that one of the airlocks was broken, rendering it useless (the top cup snapped off, presumably in transit, as both pieces were in a jar). Still, it's not a bad price for two gallon sized glass jars with measurements, lids, airlock (no s on that one, since one broke), and the grommets. If one already had grommets and airlocks, buying a glass jar of pickles and drilling a hole in the metal cap would work as well, but then there's the gallon of pickles that have to be eaten before anything can be brewed.Aside from the broken air lock, this product seems to work just fine. I currently have both jars full of strawberry wine bubbling away happily (also ordered a set of 8 airlocks in this order, so I was able to replace the broken one) - and I didn't have to eat two gallons of pickles first!

These fermentation jars work wonders for all of my brewing projects! I made a nice warm Oaked mead for the holidays and I nearly got 2 gallons of finished product! I highly recommend these for your brewing journey

Great addition to my hobby
I'm into my third year of meadmaking, and always looking for a deal on gear and ingredients. These carboys are standard style, and I will definitely be ordering a few more down the road.

Good, but broken on arrival.
These are exactly what I want, but I have to give a lower rating because the packaging is so poor. One of them arrived shattered in its box.I know this should be expected sometimes, it's glass, but all that was done to prevent this was a single layer of standard, small bubble wrap.Amazon did send me a replacement, but the seller could do a better job at this.

Perfect for Mead!
Bought these for the sole purpose of mead making at home. The wide mouth makes it super easy to add your ingredients and get a good stir on. The glass seems sturdy and strong as it should be. These turned out to be the perfect vessels for both primary and secondary fermentation
