Works brilliantly, with no leaks whatsover. The on/off taps are easy to turn and are leak-proof in both the on and off positions even when full mains pressureis applied.

This is a really handy device. However it does leak at the tap maybe it's My tap that's the issue.

Hozelock has always been the "go to" hosepipe connection system for me but in recent years, as other reviewers mention, it has become less a simple quality product and more a "how can I get this to work as advertised". This Tap/Hose splitter falls into the "why is this not working" category.It looks simple; attach to the tap, attach hose, water the plants, but no. It leaks, it leaks all over the place. The screw joint to the outside tap just doesn't tighten correctly. Adding an extra washer does not help, tightening it to within an inch of the plastic breaking does not help. Surely, I must be doing something wrong?There seems to be a clue on the back of the packaging that shows an extra Hozelock device going in between the tap and this item. It is Hozelock product numbered 2181 but I have been so far unable to find it on Amazon or indeed the Hozelock web site. Maybe this would fix this problem but at this point that is an unknown. The photo on the front of the packaging does not show this device and does show the 2256 connecting directly to the tap. This is where the "not as advertised" option would come into the equation.The 2256 can also be used as a hosepipe splitter not directly attached to a tap and comes with an adapter for this purpose. Here it does work, which indicates to me that it isn't a complete waste of bright yellow plastic. Used in this way it does not leak and will give you two outlets from one water source but only if that water is coming from a hosepipe.Rather than just returning the 2256 as not fit for purpose I made up a short 10cm length of hose with a Hozelock push fit connector at each end and attached one end to the tap and the other to the 2256. So far this has not leaked but surely this is not what you should have to do with this tap splitter which at full price is not an impulse purchase?Overall? Well, I got it working for what I needed but I wouldn't recommend it as a quality product out of the box.

For the flexibility it provides, this represents reasonable value at the price. They are usually quite long-lived and robust products aimed at the domestic gardening market. Highly flexible, decent value and widely compatible gardening products. Failure of this example however, despite winter insulation from frost, was found to have cracked and literally fallen to pieces. Replaced with Gardena equivalent.. which may - or may not - prove to be any more long-lived. Only time will tell.
