Lovely colour in a dry ink best suited to wet-writing pens
"Pelikan 220330 - Inkwell 60ml real blue" is a true and quite vivid royal blue from within Pelikan's 4001 range and is to soon replace a smaller 30ml bottle which is now sufficiently empty to make the filling of some pens more difficult. A popular colour, most ink brands offer at least one version within their line-up; some may have more. Pelikan also have an Edelstein range of 'luxury' inks that are far more expensive and somewhat complemantary. All Pelikan's inks are slow-flowing or 'dry' and therefore the perfect match to their own fountain pens which are mostly gloriously wet writers almost regardless of nib grade (Fine nibs not always). It has been the regular ink in several regularly used fountain pens - only one a Pelikan - including three fitted respectively with Fine, Medium and Broad nibs and equally effectively with each. It is not too viscous to disrupt the ink-flow to a fine nib but some examples of Fine or Extra Fine will demand a wetter ink. As the major Western brands (Parker, Sheaffer, Lamy and Cross) are generally also regarded as wet writers, the ink could be the standard fill for any of them.Although not especially dark, it should photocopy fairly well but a darker blue or blue-black ink may be more amenable in that respect. It is an easy ink to use and not fussy about paper quality, anything from basic notepads, copy paper and expensive 'fountain pen' papers working almost equally well. Low quality papers and a dry ink may lead to increased writing noise and other typical problems. Drying time is quite fast, often under ten seconds but is nib-dependant. The ink is not normally prone to feathering (spreading across the surface) or excessive bleed-through (visibility on the reverse side); its viscous nature helps limit both. The ink is reasonably priced and readily available from Amazon and several on-line sellers and in the high street from specialist pen retailers.A good companion to any wet fountain pen and possibly the most widely-used colour ink.

Pelican Blue Ink
Lovely quick drying ink. Thankfully it is washable as I accidentally dropped my pen on carpet but was able to wash it out straight away without leaving a stain.Decided to go for a bigger bottle this time as I have got through two 30ml bottles in a short space of time.

Great ink, slower flowing so perfect for a fast flowing fountain pens
This was recommended as an ink that would flow slowly and thin out the writing from a fast flowing fountain pen. I did exactly just that, very pleased with the difference.
