Great for mixing airbrush paint!
I've gotten into airbrushing over the past couple years, and I've found myself in a unique niche. I like to airbrush decorative 3D prints and resin castings, but I don't do miniatures. Like many these days, I schooled myself on the Internet and noticed something I didn't care for, and as I've progressed, don't do.Many miniature painters will just pour paint right into the airbrush's cup, then add thinner/reducer and other mediums to the paint and backblowing air through the airbrush to mix. That didn't sit right with me, so I'd always use plastic cups or lids. Though I'd try to clean them, I usually ended up tossing them. Now, as I airbrush my objects, I'm experimenting with different mediums, such as adding gloss topcoat to paint with reducer, adding metallic mica powder to gloss and matte topcoats, and so on. I find that a good stirring is more effective than blasting air into a mix. Just dumping mica powder into an airbrush cup doesn't sound like a good idea to me either, so I thought about what I could use.Stepping into the kitchen late one night, I saw a medicine measuring cup on the stove; My mother had taken some cough syrup, but it was the answer I was looking for! I bought this pack so I'd have plenty and have been very happy with them!I've been airbrushing practically every spare minute I've had in the past few weeks, and I haven't even used up a fourth of these cups. They're so handy to just grab one, pour in my mediums, be able to more clearly see the mediums and adjust quantities as needed, and cleanly stir the mix without having to balance an airbrush in one hand. For water based acrylic paints where I'm just mixing in reducer, I can quickly rinse the cup out and reuse it again! While I don't fully utilize the measuring marks on the cups, they're a handy quick reference. For example, if I want to mix reducer into acrylic paint at a 1:1 ratio, I can pour in paint to the 1 milliliter mark, then add reducer to the 2 milliliter line. Then I know that I pretty much right at that desired ratio.I'm really happy with these cups, and once I use all of these up, I'll be back for more!
