There are few books in English about Swimmingponds. But if you are looking for a complete guide to build a natural pool by yourself or get good informations before you contact your landscape-gardener, this book should be your choice. It's new, the authors are experts and you will get a lot of ideas.

I found this book very complete, thank to its pictures, its detailed explanations as well as the very explicit list of plants that can be used for natural swimming pool.I recommend it for people interested in how to build and maintain a natural swimming pool and want to go deeper than just nice pictures and superficial explanation.I personally learned a lot!

A bit too technical to enjoy and have sent for another book by Michael Littlewood which my sister had - it's much better and inspiring. Now all I need is for hubby to get going with his digger!

Au final après plusieurs achat de livres sur le sujet et de recherche sur internet, j'ai fini par faire une piscine traditionnelle avec un système de filtration biologique au pire si ça ne fonctionne pas, il sera toujours temps de remplacer le filtre par un filtre a sable et mettre du chlore. Mais du coup, il y a des skimmer, prise balais , prise de fond et sport de piscine. Seul différence le liner est un liner noir d'étang et le filtre est un filtre a beam.

This book will not actually give you plans for building your natural swimming pool, but the presentation and pictures are very lovely. A satiny texture to the book cover is also very nice from a tactile point of view. As for content, I like the flow of information. I think you could use this if you are technically minded to help in making good decisions when drafting your own plans (sizing, hydrology, etc). The end section with the case studies I feel were the most enlightening, because they show what HAS been done and in what context. There is a bit of pricing information, but I would say these are ballpark figures for you to have an idea of the feasibility of different styles. Same goes for the plant guides, in that obviously what works specifically for your microclimate will vary, but the author gives advice on why different plant groupings work well together.

This is the ultimate reference book for natural pools basics, concepts, design and building.It probably the only book not in german that presents in depth the basic concepts of chemistry, biochemistry and biology occuring in natural pools. But be aware: it is written from and for climats similar to the ones in germany. For other regions, you do need to contrast this book with local experiences.It has become our bible in our daily work.
