MerrellWomen's Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

Was going to return it, but it grew on me.
Hi, my Keen Targhee 2 hiking boots got snagged and I needed a replacement. I wanted a sturdy boot with good support. I needed less sturdiness, but a lot of support and impact absorption, as I had injured my ankle and needed some "give" and not something so snug. I heard these Merrills were super popular and with less sturdiness and ankle support, exactly what I needed at this time, so gave the Merrills a try. I bought granite as everything else sold out in my size (8 wide) around the holidays. When I first looked at the Color granite, it looked "boring sneakers" (especially with the Blue jeans I wear) and not my typical Brown ones that just screamed "hiking boots" with more flash...what I usually wear. These Granite colored ones looked like very low key sneakers, the other Merrill Colors scream more of typical hiking boot, most especially the Brown ones like "Bungee cord" or "Braken Purple". anyway, I was going to need these boots, most especially to wear on my other uninjured foot to provide some rock solid support and stability. What really pleased me was unlike the Keens, these were so much lighter, almost like I was wearing nothing at all. They are waterproof, and really worked out when I was watering the plants on the patio with a leaky water hose. Because they provided the support, grip (the special Verbam sole did not slip at all anywhere!!), were very lightweight, easy on my overworked foot, and I had to wear them everywhere I walked, I appreciated that the Colors were more muted. So, it worked out well. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. These are great everyday "shoes" (hiking boots with give on the ankle, that looked like GREAT SHOES with no slippage, great absorption of Impact, and lots of stability), I appreciated being able to wear them everywhere and it provided all the stability, lightweight, waterproof, non-slippage, and Impact absorption. I needed for my overworked...one working foot, as my other foot healed in a cast. I felt no hesistation using these with crutches all the time. After over a month of using the boot so much, it still feels as good as day one. This speaks to the quality of craftmanship. Incredible. Mind you, I never used these boots on the trail. I'm looking forward to in hopefully a few weeks. I will probably walk on a flat trail with minimal rocks, and I'm sure these will work out and be perfectly fine. Thank you Merrill for such fine footwear.

Wiggle room for wide feet
Wow! Bought these on sale. I like a little wiggle room in my toe box and read that these ran wide but I order the wide just in case. I was not disappointed. I also read that they were comfortable right out of the box and I have to confirm that that is true. I went on a short two mile with them to test them out and they fit like a pair of well worn shoes! Lots of wiggle room for my toes, amazing ankle padding and arch support. Of course everyone's arch support needs are different but for my foot, these hit the mark. Plenty of room to wear with thick socks. True to size.

Nice boots
So far I’m impressed with these boots. Have taken them on a couple of short backpacking trips and worked outside around the house in these quite a bit. Got a half size bigger and the wide width just to give myself more room for hiking and working and so far I like them and they are very comfortable.

Love these Merrells!
These Merrells are awesome! They are so comfortable! They run about a 1/2 inch, however. I wear a 7 or 7/12 wide, and I purchased the 7/12 W. They fit fine, but I can't wear a Darn Tough sock with them.

they run small
These ran small for me! I’ve never bought this brand before and have had Salomon shoes before this and my foot is normally a strict 9.5 women’s. In these boots, my toes were scrunched so I’m returning them to get a size 10! I would say they run small. Overall felt comfy when trying them on.

Great boots
I love these boots! They are so comfy, no matter how long the hike. I bought the 7.5 wide and they fit perfectly. I have a Haglund's deformity on my left heel that recently has gotten larger and tender. It does not press on it, even though I bought my normal size. They are waterproof, great for our very rainy winter and spring weather in the Pacific Northwest. I've worn them all day. The tread is great for traction.

Great quality!
I broke these in with a 9-mile medium intensity hike, and my feet did not hurt at all! My feet even stayed dry after a few creek crossings. No blisters, no sore feet.

comfortable right out of the box
this boot is comfortable right out of the box! ordered 9.5 wide, my 3/4 arch support inserts fit perfect, boots have a deep heel cup which helps. I had foot surgery 7 months ago, bunion/ metatarsal correction with permanent hardware and my foot did not hurt at all after hiking a few miles of trails, bouldering. I can only think of one thing that could be better- the tongue does not stay tied in close to the ankle no matter how tight the laces are
