Comfortable
Great socks. Needed XL for size 15. Many of the 1/4 socks are very tight - even if buy XL - these do not cut off your ciculation - I prefer this type of fit vs the tight/stretchy kind. These do have stretch in them but they fit good - not too tight at all. Be aware that when you first wear them - there is some material that comes off on to your feet. I will look to use these for some time and see how they hold up - but after 4 weeks or so - I look to wear these socks as my favorite.

The BEST Ankle Socks
For years I had a major sock frustration. I bought the common box-store brands: Hanes, Dickey, Fruit of the Loom, Gold Toe, etc. I literally tried about every brand out there. I'm 255 pounds, so admittedly hard on socks. They either quickly developed holes in the heels or the elastic around the ankles failed. It was a constant aggravation. Finally I shelled out a little more money and tried these Carhartts. I'M SOLD FOR LIFE!!!! The quality, right out of the bag, was jaw-dropping. They are thick, durable, very long-wearing, and have excellent, comfortable elastic that holds its shape. The originals I ordered here are still going strong. In fact, they actually look as new as they did when I bought them, but I'm back for more because I like them so darn much. Though I live in a northern "cold" state, I wear these year-round because the lower ankle band puts less pressure on my skin.

Nice sock
These are nice socks but they do shrink up a bit after a few washings. I have a size 11 foot and ordered the size large that is supposed to fit up to a size 12. They fit a bit small after washing. Other than that they are a pretty nice sock.

So Far So Good
If you are looking for indestructible socks then these are not for you. Those would probably have to be made almost entirely out of Twaron, Kevlar, Ballistic Nylon, and HDPE fibers - and they would cost as much as their weight in diamonds. But would probably not be very comfortable to wear on your feet.I never owned anything from the Carhartt company/brand until 2012, when I needed work gloves for a specific purpose and the company I worked for had catalogs of this brand lying around. It is enough to say that I spent at least 50% of my work time then on my feet and would frequently end up in/near places where something was being built - and frequently had to wear steel toe shoes and other PPE(personal protective equipment). The usual "designer brands" are just not designed for that kind of work.My problem has always been that my "designer" socks turn into rags within a month if I wear them all the time(especially when I wear them at work). So I had to buy dozens of pairs of those socks. The common problem is that a sock would get holes near the back(heel) of the sock and near the front(toes) because the fiber/fabric would wear away(layer by layer) too easily(and quickly) around those areas and eventually rip. Some have limited reinforcement near the front or the back but not over a large surface area. The extra reinforcement of the above areas is why I bought these Carhartt Quarter Socks(and the similar and longer Carhartt Crew Work Socks). The Positive:+ All colors are mostly Cotton.+ I have used these socks since January 2018 and all are still intact.+ I normally wear size 10.5 and 11 men's shoes, these socks(size "L" 6-12) feel neither too small nor too large even after being washed multiple times.+ These socks are mostly made from cotton so I don't feel any irritation and my feet don't get too warm or sweaty(but it is still Winter in my area).+ Comfortable to wear in cool temperatures but I wear longer socks for really cold freezing temperatures. The Negative:- The top stretch fabric portion(neck?) is not nearly as long as it is in the picture. So I don't wear Winter boots with these socks on. But this works better for warmer weather.- Even after several months these socks still shed significant material(lint) on my feet.- Feet/legs may get cold if temperatures drop below freezing.- (For the nitpicker)The reinforced heel area could feel uncomfortable for some when standing up for a long time.I have ordered more and I plan to wear these during the warmer/hot months of the year(the longer crew socks work better for boots and colder temperatures). I only bought the socks(black or grey) that have nylon reinforcement(I think simple polyester in the white socks will wear out faster). So far so good.

Very Durable and Comfortable, My Ideal Sock
These socks fit well and are durable (with regard to elasticity and degredation of the soles).I wear size 9-10 shoes, 9 being absolutely the smallest I can go. I like socks to be snug, but not tight. These socks are an ideal fit for me. The soles provide some cushion and are more padded than most basic socks. The material is not super soft but I would never even think to call it uncomfortable. The socks are not very elastic, the material generally doesn't stretch a lot. These socks are not thick (Not to the point where they cushion your feet like a wool sock), they will not keep your feet warm when it is cold outside, I usually wear a second pair when it is very cold. They are not overly hot during summer monthsI have worn these socks for approximately 2 years and the first pairs that I bought have loosened slightly compared to the newer pairs I have but the difference is not very noticeable. Note that if these fit you tightly they may stretch more than in my experience. My other pairs of black socks were either too loose and would slip down or too tight and would leave my legs with impressions. These socks after 2 years still fit well and do not slip. The material they are made of is far more durable than any of my other socks, I walk around my house in socks most of the time and the soles of these socks are far from worn as many of my other pairs are. With these socks I see much less "lint rolls" than other socks I've owned. (I am referring to bits of the cotton that roll up around the soles from repeated scraping against surfaces which eventually lead to the soles wearing out). The older socks have faded a little bit to a more dull black.I wear these mostly in tennis shoes and dress shoes, rarely in boots. I don't believe I put huge stress on my socks compared to many people but these have absolutely without a doubt held up better than any pair of hanes, nike, or addidas socks that I have owned and used for the same duration.

Nice Socks
Perfect for wearing in the summer. My husband was used to wearing calf high wool socks but was pleased with this substitute.
