The steelbook packaging is top notch and the episodes represent some of the best SW storytelling ever. As a fan of physical media (especially when it comes to SW), I’m thankful this was given a 4K release.

Great series, quality picture.

After it arrived I compared it with the streaming version on Disney+ (which looks great in 4K) but the picture, and especially the sound, are both clearly superior on 4K disc to the streaming version (which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone).And now I own it forever and can watch it with the best picture and best sound even if the streaming service drops the show (which is becoming more and more common for streaming services to do nowadays) or decides to make us pay a ton extra every month for 4K (like Netflix--and now even Max do) or you want to always have access to the original version (some material is sometimes censored or edited over time on streaming services and the original versions we first saw can no longer be seen on streaming--something most people are unaware of).Since the streaming services now keep changing the rules on us, the ONLY way to insure you will always have access to shows and movies you love in the best quality and in their original versions is to own them on disc! Just a fact of modern life. Movies like The French Connection have been edited on streaming (disc is the only way to see it in the original unedited form that won the Oscar for Best Picture) and some movies, like Cocoon, cannot be streamed at all! And they aren't the ONLY ones! Thank goodness I own the discs of many of the edited or unavailable titles I love!Thank you Disney for listening to we fans and making this available to us. We love you for doing this. You are THE BEST!How about Andor next, pretty, pretty please?If you love this show and want to make sure you can ALWAYS see it as it is now, and in the best quality too, then do the smart thing and get the discs!

Great series

The show aside, I have been buying more physical discs lately and shifting away from buying digital copies because too many times I get burned when the platforms I buy them on decide to take them away... Even on a reliable 1.2Gbps connection, I still get compression with streaming and right away I could tell this UHD phsical copy provides much better video and audio quality than streaming does.

Since there's an over abundance of negative reviews just because people hate Disney, let me offer at least one verified purchase review.Mandalorian is a great show (seasons 1 & 2 at least) and the start of a shared universe series within Star Wars that hopefully leads to a kind of retelling of Heir to the Empire (probably the greatest Legends book trilogy there is). It's a slow paced, western-themed adventure with a lot of fan callbacks to the OT, and Clone Wars series. Like a TON, especially in the second season.I purchased this 4k and season 2 mainly because I want to physically own the series (and hopefully the others that share in this story, even Book of Boba Fett which I really didn't like at all). I'm hoping that Disney goes through and keeps releasing these every year and this wasn't just a one-off to make some quick cash during a writers strike.The show itself in the first season is fairly dark so a 4k image and HDR don't seem to make a big impression so far (I haven't rewatched all the episodes yet). The picture is kind of flat on the early episodes, but it's still a great show to see again.Is it worth $45? For 8 episodes and not much in the way of extras, it's pretty steep. But not knowing if this was a limited release, I decided to go for it and hope the pre-order price would drop a little. As long as they release more seasons of these shows so I can complete the collection I'll be happy I bought it. Otherwise it'll sit next to my copies of seasons 1 & 2 of Stranger Things unfinished....
