The Marvels [DVD]

Heroes Of The higher Consciousness
'The Marvels' has the new mythology of Captain Marvel(Brie Larson), infused with light energy and sunburst in outline plying through the sun. This Marvel's Universe film has for its inspiration the folklorish Marvel comic book trope of the harnessing of the power of the planets, and space-time, in which a hero or heroine, villain or villainess, can coordinate creation. Director Nia Dacosta's vision has The Marvel's, three super heroines, forged in love and kindness in familial cultures, and this heritage has the whole playing field. The wisdom to have experiential scope on the development of these cosmic characters to expand the narrative is the push of creativity towards progress. 'The Marvels' are the universe's targets for dreams and this motif subordinates the control over solar bodies to the high soap opera between good and evil antics. Kamala Khan(Iman Vellani) is a teenager who is to become a protege of Captain Marvel, who is Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson, in her modest form. The colossal back story treasury of access to worlds as typical errand runs has as side story the Kree going after the Skrull, from conflicts of old. The little mementos and personal belongings of Kamala reveal her adoration of Captain Marvel. It is realized that Kamala has one of the hyper powerful bangles that is a tool used to forge jump points in the galaxy. Jersey City, where Kamala lives, is the setting for extreme evocations of higher spheres of interaction. This witness to Kamala's motivations has allowed Kamala's family to muse over her predilections as body swapper. Here to, we see with these actresses the ability to propel their particular idiosyncracies within our capacity for acceptance. Captain Marvel can be poised like a parade marshal and yet be awed by child like wonder at the same time. Dar-Ben(Zawe Ashton) is the villain, or villainness, and she wields the 'Universal Weapon', a long handled cubed head hammer of propulsion. Dar-Ben is awesome. When she seeks justice for her ravished sense of honor her teeth grind and her darkish eyes and frozen face become animated like a desensitized zombie. Dar-Ben is Supremor of Hala and has the other bangle of quantum leap strength. Teyonah Paris plays Monica Rambeau, the third member of the new team 'The Marvels'. Samuel Jackson returns as Nick Fury, friend and advisor to Captain Marvel. All of these heroines and anti heroines are their own dream forgers. Retailed within random auras of imaginative enhancement these guardians look compassionate to us.

Wonderful movie
This is one of my favorite movies in the entire marvel universe. It was so fantastic and Miss Marvel is beyond wonderful. I hope they make 10 more.

Kamala steals the show, raises the movie from blah to charming
The baddie is utterly forgettable, the plot is seriously contrived, it ends up being mostly just light and fun - though the characters are a little all over the place and I think the writing is a little muddled since (maybe? I think) they tried to do a fun bright / emotional drama / new something pattern to the movie and the "emotional drama" parts just ... don't hit. At all. And they're basically glossed over even by the characters themselves while they're having them. Now the characters... Kamala has serious charisma and is the highlight of the movie by far, I mean *by farrrrrr*. That's awesome for the actress (congrats!) ... but it's a bit frustrating when the teen actress is out acting / out charming / out charactering / out everything-ing all the adult actors in the rest of the movie.Photon is mostly... just there. Which takes away from the final act. She's someone you could both like and side with as she's built as a smart and more relatable character (with more understandable personal experiences - loss of family, people not being there for her in general, along with all the new powers / new world usual tropes) She could be a really grounded and interesting character - if she ever got to be more than a foil for other leading ladies. She almost got to be in WandaVision... if they gave her any lines or, well, anything to work with in this movie I'd have been interested.Brie is ... why do they have her be so damn stone faced? I am not one of those a-holes who says "she'd be so much prettier if she smiled" (gag) but let her have a regular expression! A chance to *be* someone (at all!) She's the main character and she's allowed the range of an angry grapefruit, it hurts. I don't know if that's just poor usage, or some weird belief that really powerful people have to be deeply broken inside or ... what, but it's killing these movies. Stone faced bad mothers have their place in action flicks... but they don't seem to be trying to make that sort of flick. I mean, the bright colors, constant bad jokes and, you know - *dance scenes* imply something at least slightly different was the goal.Though now I kinda want to see Arnie / Stallone / etc doing the stone faced killer thing and then have to dance and sing too.Oh well - still one of the better marvel releases in a while - just light and mostly forgettable when it could have been a lot more.Oh - random last thought - I was really happy to see more Fury. He doesn't fit the character developed through his recent show at all - if you've seen that. If you haven't seen it? He's fine, mostly used as comic relief which again... just like the rest of everything, is light and fun... but could have been so much more.Even with the style - he could have used at least one decent moment-of-awesome in the movie, definitely *not* saving the main heroines (at least they didn't do that) - but maybe something cool with the family or something, the man's earned a nice scene or two.Ok - have fun! Go in with light expectations and it's a nice run, good fun, some silliness, some music based fighting, some shenanigans, *lots* of pretty flashing lights and ... I think there was a baddie? maybe? was there? ... hmmm... sooo forgettable...
