A Healing Guide That Connects Mind and Body
As someone living with complex PTSD, I’ve read countless books that talk about trauma—but very few that help you feel your way through it. The Somatic Therapy Workbook is different. It bridges the gap between knowledge and practice, offering over 100 exercises that gently guide you back into your body, where so much of trauma gets stored. What I love most about this book is its approachability. Trauma can feel overwhelming, but the exercises here are broken into simple, manageable steps. They range from mindfulness practices and grounding techniques to movement-based exercises that reconnect you with parts of yourself you may have shut down for years. Each activity feels like an invitation, not a demand—a crucial difference for survivors. The combination of mindfulness, self-compassion, and body-awareness is powerful. Instead of pushing you to “get over it,” the book encourages you to listen, nurture, and heal at your own pace. I found myself returning to certain exercises again and again, especially during moments of stress or dissociation, and each time they helped me find a little more calm and safety inside myself. This isn’t just a workbook—it’s a compassionate companion for the journey of healing. Whether you’re working on your own or alongside a therapist, it provides tools that truly honor the complexity of trauma while offering hope for wholeness. If you’re seeking not just to understand trauma, but to gently and practically heal through it, this book is a gift.

High hopes for this book
I recently received this book, so I haven't had the chance to fully explore it yet. However, I'm really excited to dive in and seek guidance from this book and then follow up with God to make sure nothing crosses His word! I did notice an error—on page 118 in my copy, it's labeled as 128 in the book. This could be confusing for anyone trying to find that page. I can't wait to see what insights this book will offer!

An Intersting and Intriguing Find
My anxiety and depression have persisted for years because of the long-term impacts of the traumas I have survived. Finding resources and guidance in my quest for emotional healing and relief has been challenging. When I needed assistance, I had no idea who to ask. It has been enlightening and reassuring to learn about the various options available, such as Somatic Therapy, for dealing with life's most difficult challenges.I had never heard of Somatic Therapy or its impact on recovery and general health after trauma until I read this book. As I learned more about its principles, I thought it was an intriguing way to deal with problems like PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. The author stresses how our experiences greatly impact our neurological system. I have a good grasp of how the brain influences the body thanks to my background in nursing. The author's claim that the therapy seeks to build new neural pathways that encourage regulation, resilience, and choice while simultaneously targeting and disrupting overreactive responses piqued my interest. In light of my personal ongoing challenges, this struck a chord with me.While I have not done any research into this method myself, I can say that the book provides a solid groundwork for anyone interested in doing so. The author presents the topic in an engaging and well-researched manner. Anyone dealing with the aftereffects of trauma will find this book to be an invaluable resource.
