Q: I think I know the answer but can you use an ordinary coffee cup on the warmer?

Absolutely Yes! Most coffee mugs have a concave bottom which keeps the heating element from making contact with the bottom of the coffee mug. This limits the usefulness of most coffee cup warmers. However, this warmer can be set warm enough to keep even those cups and their contents warm (hot). However, I found a few silicone coffee cups "hats" that help keep the coffee warm too. Together, my coffee stays hot as long as I want it to. Personally, I use the flat bottomed steel cup and even without the lid, it stays warm to hot as long as I want.

Q: What is the hottest temperature in reality? Can someone tell me if it is still steaming hot?

I think the warming plate gets up to about 180F per the readout. Whatever the temperature actually is my tea stays very hot. Not hot enough to burn my lips or mouth, but hot enough to feel freshly made. If I leave it on the warming plate for a while when there is only about half and inch of beverage left it does get a little too hot to drink comfortably though, but that’s to be expected. I bet if I turned the temp down when I’m nearing the end of my tea it would be just fine.

Q: Is the mug dishwasher safe?

Q: Is this wireless? I see some pictures with a cord and others without.

It takes a lot of electric power to heat surfaces. A cordless warmer of this size would have a dead battery in less than a half hour. This is a corded appliance that you need to plug into a 120V (or 110V) outlet. Be happy about that. It keep your coffee warm all day.
