Since I moved to Japan I have always missed my Tolkien books back in America. There, I have textbook sized illustrated versions of all of Tolkien’s classics, from the Silmarillion to the Return of the King. From the age of 13 to now I have always relished the time I spent pouring over these incredibly special books. Since they aren’t readily accessible at the moment, I decided to buy this set. They are immaculate. They are small, but very well made. They appear to be bound in faux leather, and the imprinted text is very beautiful. I suspect it will hold its form in time. They fit just about anywhere that you’d like them to, and they’re an ornament as well as a literary boon that you can dive into at an instant. Highly recommend. Take the plunge.

さすがアラン・リー、とても美しい本です。しかし予想以上にデカい。重い。縦22.8cmが日本のハードカバーと同じサイズだと思い込んでいました。その巨大さと重量ゆえにカバーのフチやケースに若干のヨレが見受けられますが許容範囲内。

The parcel was well-packaged.This vinyl bound is perfect for me. It's small enough to carry it anywhere. The texts are in small size but I like it the way it is. Good buy!

Nice covers, text is a little small but it’s to be expected. Worth the purchase. Should do more like this for the other Tolkien books !
