Nail polish has always been my gateway drug into make-up world. I've loved doing my nails since high school when the Avon Lady was my local pusher. This book was written about and discussed on many nail blogs and I couldn't wait to get it. Fascinating history of how nail polish came about and the variations of shapes, styles, colors, and finishes.A good read for nail polish addicts. (You know who you are.) A good read for anyone interested in the beauty or fashion industry. A good read for those interested in women's studies and the role of make-up in suffrage. A good read for anyone who wants to have a reference book on various fashion looks.

I was pleasantly surprised.This is a coffee table. Ok. Beautiful photos, and lots of history about nails. Throughly enjoyed reading it. Very informative.

A beautifully constructed book; the illustrations, photographs and commentary combine to a dazzling and fascinating effect. This is a wonderful addition to our personal library and has also been a terrific gift for people who enjoy the aesthetic and sensual pleasure of doing their own nails and/or having a professional manicure.

The book is well written, with lots of interesting historical anecdotes, and the pictures are gorgeous. I would give 5 stars, but when I pulled the plastic off and started paging through, I found a piece of metal had been stuck inside the pages, and it had torn through and dented several pages. None of the writing was affected, but a couple of pictures have holes through them, which is unfortunate.

I haven't had as much time as i'd like to read it. but it is entertaining.
