Replacement for existing unit, very simple and easy installation
The original radon fan had run continuously for 23 years with no maintenance required, so I had no worries about replacing it with the identical model. It fit right on the piping and the wires were connected with the supplied parts. I disassembled the old unit and found that one of the bearings was warn and noisy. I have ordered a new bearing ($7) and will completely clean and reassemble the old unit as a backup or offer it for sale to recoup some of the cost of the new one which I feel is a bit over-priced.Replacing the unit with the exact same unit is no more difficult than replacing a light bulb. A professional may charge more than $500 to do this!

Perfect
Just what I needed to replace my other one that died which was the same as this one. Took all of 10 mins to install and works perfectly! Not much else to mention.

Perfect fit as replacenemt, noisy, ok performance.
I replaced a discontinued model from the sane maker with identical dimensions. So the installation was super easy for me. It is pretty noisy, but an easy noise to get used to, it is next to a condesor on my house so not a problem for me. If you research the performance and specs there are better values because this on is expensive, and two from this company has lasted only anout 10 years in my experience.

Bought this thing a few years back and it’s still running quietly.

Simple replacement
Great to find this model still in stock. I was able to slap this one in after about 15-20 minutes of work to replace one that had burned out after 15+ years. A bit expensive but the quick effective installation made up for it. It reduced radon levels from around 8 to a bit over 1.

Great results in large footprint partially unfinished basement
Before the fan, I had a radon reading that fluctuated between 2.8 and 4.3. Now with the fan, it's reading between 0.8 and 1.1. I had several challenges given my home size and structure, so this is what I had to do: My house had a passive pipe stacking the middle of the house going up 3 stories to terminate in the attic (so there was a long pipe stretch to suck through and due to finish spaces, several tight pipe turns that I feared would reduce effectiveness). I have a large home with basement footprint about 2000 sqft with 3 main, mostly isolated sections under the slab due to the way the footers are situated (I have the house plans). So I feared at best I would need multiple suction points, or at worst multiple fans, but I started with the single GP501 fan and the passive pipe I already had. I cut the bottom of the pipe and slab, and dug out 10 gallons of sub slab material which is a combo of approximately 2-4 inches of gravel on top of pure clay (before that the pipe just terminated in the ground with no air pocket). I tried to seal some cracks and seams in the basement slab, but since it's partially finished, I could only do that for about half the floor space. I installed the fan in the attic and had my roofer extend the pipe through the roof at close to the highest point of the roof ridge as possible without it being visible from the front of the house. The results are better than I expected! I have two continuous radon detectors in the basement in different locations and one is now reading 0.8 after 14 days pretty consistently, and the other is 1.1. I will say, the fan is not that quiet, and I can hear it in the room where it is above (although it is a low hum that is easy to ignore). I have a tall house, and can even hear it outside a little bit, but just a quiet low hum from the pipe. But I would trade that sound any day for the suction and results this fan provided!

RadonAway does not stand behind their product or their warranty
Bought and installed the GP501 unit. It ran great for almost a year, it took my radon levels way down in my basement. It ended up failing so I reached out for a replacement and included pictures of the label and my receipt. Their customer service's first plan was simply to ignore my email and hope I would go away. I pestered them until I finally got a response falsely stating that I have to seek a replacement with whomever installed the fan because the warranty is only good through them. After I reminded them that the manual states that their warranty is still good for up to a year even when self-installed, they changed their policy again and stated that the warranty is only good when you buy directly through their store and not through a retailer (amazon.com). These policies are not stated anywhere in their product information or their manual. Even though I provided my receipt up front, it took them weeks to go through other attempts to blow me off before settling on that made up policy as their final excuse.I don't usually write bad reviews, especially just because some cheap Chinese piece of junk fails prematurely, but I am compelled to write this one simply due to the absolutely pathetic and slimy "customer service" provided by RadonAway. Never been told by a company that their warranties are dependent on which store I bought their product from. That tells me that they have no faith in their product and have no problem pointing the finger at their distributors instead. They sell their products with a warranty that they expect other people to honor. They like to brag about how their fans are made in the United States, but surely enough when I decided to take it apart I found a generic foreign-sourced motor and a burned up foreign-sourced starting capacitor. I bench tested the motor and it was bad, as I expected. I replaced this fan with a Tjernlund PVC4 that's going on 2 years now with no issues. Same results as RadonAway at a fraction of the price.
