You want cheap and excellent? Here it is
#8 in walnut for a Jackson. Why have I wasted so much money and time searching for the perfect knife. Just buy a half dozen of these. I almost think I could use it to shave.

#9 is Right Size for Small/Medium Hands.
France (opinel), Italy (olivewood), and Sweden (12C27 steel), all got together and created a folding, mini-puuko. I much prefer the size #9 over the #8. It is larger than the #8 in all dimensions and heavier. Blade is just slightly thicker - still very slicey for food, etc.. Handle is longer and stouter than the #8. Good value for a hiking, outdoor knife. Simple and elegant. The blade contours match the handle contours very well for symmetry. Crisp blade spine for striking ferro rods. For a man with large hands - I recommend going straight to the size #10. For smaller hands/women - the #9 is very good. For ultralight hikers or purse/office knife - size #8 is good. The one I received is flawless. Well centered blade, good tension for opening/closing. I would buy this again. I would not buy the #8 again (red one in photo). (I would like for Opinel to make a #9.5 knife, using #9 blade in a #10 handle.)

Opinel No. 6
Advertised as bubinga wood, but actually padouk wood, both types of rosewoods from Africa, both beautiful; I prefer the padouk wood, so no complaint here. My complaint does not attach to thisseller but to Opinel Knife Company; I should be able to get this beautiful wood handle with acarbon steel blade, in No. 6 size. The woods offered with the No. 6 size are limited and not asattractive as this beautiful padouk wood. So the trade-off was, I settled on the padouk woodwith a stainless steel blade. A carbon steel blade would give the knife a more rugged look,as opposed to looking like a 'gentleman's' knife, and I would be able to sharpen blade toa greater degree than the stainless blade. Small complaint, but this would be mypreference, in a perfect world. Still looks good, small to carry, and useful.

A peasants razor utility knife
Before the disposable utility razor blade knife this filled the slice task with aplomb. Ultra light weight and no frills build the Opinel is the Timex of classic affordable precise slashing/slicing. Just as you would never expect a disposable razor to cut a nail head off a board it will disappoint quickly if used outside the slim blades field of expertise.A large cross section ranged by number, this pertains to the handle size chosen to mount various blades. Other choices Carbon vs INOX blade material, slim line and specialty blades and wood selection. For my use I would limit my choice to the No 6 and larger as the locking twist ring is not on the 2-5 in the size range. Long story short, the number 6 is still palm filling and easy handling for modest sized hands. This No 6 with a Walnut handle would make an excellent ladies EDC utility knife. From cutting up a impromptu lunch apple to opening a package despite being a one trick pony the size/weight kicks it.

Quality at a great price.
I'm very happy with this purchase.I love the olive wood handle, looks very nice. This Opinel was quite sharp right out of the box, and for my needs it's a perfect size.
