Is this food good for an axolotl?

Just read about the axolotl, neat critter! I feed this to Senegal Bichers and they do very well. I think this would be a good staple along with the other live foods.

Can I give these as treats to my Tiger Oscars?? They about 4-4 1/2 inches long. I give them Hikari Bio-Gold and frozen worms but feel they need more.

Merc,Massivore is a very large pellet...more of a tablet in shape and meant for large carnivores.it is also a sinking pellet and I would not encourage Oscars to bottom feed for fear of ingesting gravel which is very similar to Massivore in size and look.Oscars are not really carnivores in the true sense of the word.The Bio-Gold is an excellent choice.You are correct in wanting to supplement just the high quality pellet and I would choose a "treat" that is high in vitamin C as well as a source of greens like spirulina.Oscars are susceptible to bloat in captivity and it is largely believed the constipation that causes the bloat or blockage is best aided with foods that are in the fruit/veg family because of their moisture content and high vitamin c.I always had success using peas as treat.You might also want to give frozen krill a shot on the protein side.This is an excellent article....you'll find lots of good advice here.http://www.oscarfish.com/article-home/oscars/170-oscar-fish-diet-feeding-an-oscar-fish.html

How much of a difference is there between this and the hikari sinking carnivore pellets?

Hello Suzanne,In terms of content and nutrition not a lot...both are power packed and designed for the big fish to thrive on.But Massivore is huge by fish food standards....Hikari does not list a size but I can tell you it is more the size of dog food kibble than fish food....easily more than 5mm in size you really need to have the boys from rip and tear in your tank to need it.It is designed to absorb water quickly which will soften it as well as make it sink.The quick softening is a nice safeguard for fish who are borderline large enough for it but I still would not feed Massivore unless I had fish I was sure could handle it.

I see I can use this food with a variety of fish - would this include spotted green puffer juveniles (about 1-1/2 long)?

we augment fresh shrimp with this to feed our two foot long redtail cat... I don't believe you want them for such a small fish.. they're great food though
