lightweight once assembled sturdy and useful
If you are staring at this in your cart like I did for several weeks, BUY THIS! I am full figured and hubby is a rough sleeper and this sturdy assembly holds us well I have it placed on a platform frame I also bought here and both are holding up well. Because of the metal on metal, I secured the box spring to the platform frame using zip ties two on top and to at the foot of the assembly and it dont shift as much as some others have said.It lifts us up enough I dont feel like I am sleeping on the floor anymore (platform only sits the bed about 18 inches from floor I got the 7in lift and it makes all the difference)I was skeptical about buying a boxspring in pieces but the assembly is fairly easy if YOU FOLLOW THE PICS NOT THE WORDS. The numbers are placed a bit wonky on the pieces but it goes together well.I'll update in a few months after nightly use and let you know how it holds up

Straightforward assembly, solid once together
After putting this boxspring together, I don't think I'll ever purchase a pre-assembled one ever again!Assembly was pretty easy, and the box has everything you need, including an allen wrench and a small ratchet. The instructions were specific about what order to do things in, but I just laid the parts out on my floor in their correct position, and snapped them together as I worked my way around. The powdercoating on the pieces feels high quality, and I did not notice a single sharp edge or corner. The pieces are all light but quite sturdy. I wanted a solid surface for a memory foam bed, and this seems to fit the bill.Something that worried me a little was whether the metal pieces would clank against each other when everything was assembled, but I think it'll be nice and quiet. The only place that metal could touch metal, there's a thin foam pad to prevent noise. At first I thought the cover was slightly undersized, but after getting all of the corners on, the material on the edges curves up over the top just a little on each side. It looks very nice once the mattress is in place. The ease of breaking this down to move it is a huge selling point. I don't plan on moving again in my life, but a large boxspring is a PAIN to move up and down stairs. This breaks down into a small enough package that you could easily move it up a spiral staircase.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a sturdy base for their mattress, and especially to someone who has a tight pathway to their bedroom.

Great Product - Challenging Directions
To be sure, this is a rock solid, quality product that will last for years and years. Getting it assembled, however, is a chore. I've read the other reviews where someone says something like..."It's so Easy! It only took me 30 minutes." My experience is different. Clearly, the folks at Zinus really tried to make it easy, but they failed. Let me take you through it...1) The directions. As you can see in the photo, for step one, you are to assemble 2 components together. In the bottom left, there is a diagram of what it is supposed to look like when it's fully assembled with 2 red check marks to indicate the 2 components you're supposed to be working on. Well, that's nice, but all of the components in the diagram are the same black color and they are going every which way so it's REALLY tough to figure out the orientation of the 2 components you're working on in this step and all the rest. It would be AWESOME if Zinus grayed out all the components you aren't supposed to be working on and the only 2 you're supposed to be working on were black. That way, you can tell the orientation of your work for this step.2) The hardware kit. As you can see of the other photo, I have a copy of the directions on top and the hardware kit on the bottom. The directions indicate I am supposed to have 10 nuts labeled "G" (I've highlighted it in pink). When you look at the hardware kit, nothing is labeled "G". However, there are 10 nuts labeled "H" (also highlighted in pink). Well, G and H are next to each other in the alphabet - I don't know how Zinus missed this.3) More on the hardware kit. They provide this very nice little ratchet device to assemble it. They also provide a stamped-out-of-a-metal-sheet little wrench which isn't worth anything at all. If Zinus goes to the trouble of providing the nice ratchet device, please provide a worthwhile wrench.4) Final comment on the hardware kit. It's nice to have everything labeled and to even have some spare parts labeled as "spare parts." A nice touch. Regrettably, you need to take out multiple components at the same time and when you punch them out of the back of the blister pack, now you have a whole bunch of nuts and bolts scattered all over the place. It would be awesome if Zinus provided the hardware in little individual, labeled bags.5) The stickers - Each components that you put together is labeled with a yellow "up" sticker and it's really helpful. Kudos for that. Each component is also labeled with a dark green sticker with a number on it. The numbering is critical and very helpful. However, it's a dark green sticker on a black surface and, amazingly, it's hard to find the sticker. I don't know why they don't make it dayglow orange - no one is ever going to see it after it's assembled, and it would make it so much easier to see during assembly.6) Finally, the cards. Zinus includes several "thank you" and "Hello!" cards that you can send to friends and family. Presumably so you can tell everyone about the great Zinus product you just bought. Anytime I have purchased a thank you note card, it always comes with an envelope. Zinus missed this - not an envelope anywhere. What am I supposed to do with these now? I tossed them. If Zinus doesn't want to incur the extra cost of a few envelopes, then a post card would work. I thought this a bit weird though - do people still send letters and notes in the mail? All in all, if you can slog through the assembly, this is a worthwhile product and offers a good value.

Excellent and SO easy to put together!
I love putting household items together, and this was no exception! The instructions are super clear and easy to understand. I had a little trouble because I had to stand it up at one point to click in the final corner, but other than that, it was actually enjoyable - threw on some music, had a glass of wine and within 30 mins it was on my bed frame! I am not strong and it was even ok to move from the room I put it together in to my bedroom. I will definitely purchase more items from this company, as this is excellent and Iβve been using it for many weeks as of now. Very, very strong metal frame - great for those of us who might not have great luck with things falling etc that might compromise a lesser frame!

Fantastic replacement for a standard wooden framed box-spring.
Works as expected, securely holds my mattress in place on the bed frame. Solid construction, the perfect height for my mattress and head-board and easy to assemble. Initial assembly might seem daunting, but just start bolting things together and you'll be done in no time! The cover that it comes with seems durable and I like having the option of removing it and washing it should the need arise. The unit is a bit on the pricey side, but you'll be hard pressed to break the slats on this versus a regular wooden box-spring. And that durability, though more expensive, comes at a reasonable price. I feel I have received good value for my money and a solid product that will serve me well for years to come.

Excellent Zinus product, but...
As with all Zinus products I've tried, assembly was easy, included ratchet drive was a blessing, fasteners are top quality. However, if you're buying this to fit on top of a metal frame where your primary contact is the perimeter, it will just slip and slide all over unless you McGyver a way to secure it. It was an unfortunate surprise for me, but I drilled out holes at the head and foot and secured the unit with nuts and bolts, then put on the cover. Just think it through.

Metal Box Spring
This box spring was easy to put together with the help of someone else! You really just match up the numbers and then screw in the screws and bolts. You just got to know what you're doing. I've been sleeping on this box spring for a whole month now and it's been perfectly fine. No squeaks, no extra movement, and no issues so far! For me and my boyfriend the max weight being on this box spring is around 570 lbs and it's holding up. Read the fine print before ordering as I thought this also came with a frame, it does not. That was my fault. So currently the box spring is just on the floor with my mattress on top of it and there hasn't been any issues as of yet!
