The quality of the product seems quite good (soft touch and resistent yarn) although the wool is not british. A bit desapointed with the Made in China label but let's see now if it is as good as it seems!

SCRATCHY
Large ball. Aran weight at least. Softish but SCRATCHY. OK for practicing dye work on. It's a rustic wool.

Beautiful Yarn, So Soft yet stronge
I use it on a Circular Knitting Machines. Works like a charm. Made 2 knitted Fisherman Hats. My son and grandson loves them. Wish there was more colors to make hats for granddaughters.

Poor yarn quality
Yarn quality poor and rough. The yarn splits apart while crocheting, and looks more like crocheting with thin string rather than supposed worsted yarn. It is the first time I purchased Lionbrand yarn and doubt whether I will purchase the brand again.

Some of the best value 100% wool yarns out there
I love this yarn - at least, the 100% wool versions, since I haven't bothered with the tweeds. The average skein of yarn is 100g, or even 50g, but this is sold in a very generous 8oz which is more than 200g - but the price is not doubled. This is by far the least expensive 100% wool yarn I've found - especially if you watch for sales. That said, this is not super soft wool - it's not superfine wool like merino yarn is. It's not excessively scratchy, either, though, and I find that the grippy texture makes it very easy to work with. Great for new knitters! It felts readily, so joins between skeins are very easy.I actually really enjoy a rustic yarn, and this makes for great blankets, shawls, and outerwear. For things that are going to sit closer to the skin, I'd like something softer.
